The name of this organization shall be Outboard Drag Boat Association, hereinafter referred to as ODBA. 2. The location of the principal ODBA office shall be in the state of the office of the ODBA’s legal counsel. Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be announced in writing, by conference call, email, via internet, or in person. 3. ODBA is a nonprofit organization and all business shall be conducted as a nonprofit organization. ARTICLE II: Purpose The purposes for which ODBA is organized are as follows: 1. To stimulate interest in owning, racing or watching outboard drag boats. 2. To encourage family participation in all phases of outboard drag boats. 3. To promote cooperation among clubs thereby broadening viewer awareness in the sport of outboard drag boat racing. ARTICLE III: Membership The membership of ODBA shall be composed of the following types and voting privileges: 1. FULL COMPETITION MEMBERSHIP: The participating driver of the registered race boat must be a full competition member. If the DRIVER IS NOT the OWNER of the race boat then the OWNER MUST be a full competition member also. Each full competition member in good standing shall be entitled to ONE vote per membership to be cast concerning elected officers and general rules at the yearly general meeting. Each competition membership is valid for the current year for $175. 2. Any driver wishing to participate in competition with ODBA must be 19 years of age or older. 3. All applications for membership must be complete and are subject to approval by the majority of the Board of Directors before acceptance into ODBA. ARTICLE IV: Dues 1. Fiscal year is January 1 through December 31 of the current year. All annual dues for the current year shall be due prior to the conclusion of the final race of the year or October 31 whichever comes first to be eligible for voting rights for that year. 2. The amount of annual dues shall be decided and voted on by the Board of Directors. Any changes in dues shall become effective only upon vote of the majority of a quorum member of the Board of Directors. 3. No proxy voting allowed. 4. See page 10 - 2021 ODBA Rules, Registration and Points, for dues and entry fees. ARTICLE V: Board of Directors 1. The property and business of ODBA shall be managed and controlled by the Board of Directors. 2. Only Competition or Associate members shall be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. 3. The Board will consist of a maximum of TEN members, appointed by the existing Board of directors for a minimum of two years. The Board of Directors will be approved by the General Membership at the Annual Meeting. The President will be a member of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall elect a Chairman of the Board to preside over the Board of Directors meetings 4. Any Board Member who fails to perform the duties of his/her office in a satisfactory manner or whose actions are deemed unethical or below the high standards set by ODBA may be recommended for

    Bradshaw’s Next Chapter A police officer of 11 years in Belmont, Calif., Chuck Bradshaw retired from the force in Feb. of 2012 after a pair of shoulder surgeries. The surgeries were so extensive that it forced him to immediately put an end to his sprint car racing days, a tough blow considering he had just finished building two identical sprint cars. But the silver lining in everything was that it opened the door to return to drag racing. Needing to fulfill his continued need for speed even after a pair of surgeries, Bradshaw chose drag racing, and needing to get back in the seat as quickly as possible, Bradshaw chose Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School. Bradshaw attended the March class in Gainesville, Fla., received his Super Comp license and is now counting down the days to finishing his Top Dragster and going down the track. “I was ready to go racing as soon as I got back,” Bradshaw said. “Going to the school was definitely worth it. “I’ve always loved drag racing. I guess it’s just that need for something that goes fast.” Racing in some degree has been part of Bradshaw’s life for as long as he can remember. The 48-year-old San Carlos, Ca. resident started with street cars as a teenager and then moved to an altered dragster. Before long, Bradshaw was doing drag boat racing, off-road racing in a buggy and eventually the volatile world of sprint car racing. But a pair of shoulder surgeries quickly halted those days.

Outboard drag boat racing is like automotive drag racing, except it’s 800’ at a time on water. The format is simple, but the action isn’t: Head-to-head racing has winners declared within seconds as boats accelerate harder than supercars or sport bikes with only wind, waves, and undersized cajones to thwart them. Spectators witness a sprint to the finish every time with speeds up to and over 100 mph. T-Boat racing is also a sprint to the finish. However, it takes 5 circuits in whitewater that mimics the spin cycle of a washing machine. Similar to sprint car racing, several boats are on the course at the same time, and things happen quickly when trying to balance a boat on the tip of a pencil in a hurricane. This could be the most entertaining type of racing with speeds up to 80 mph from boats that can almost fit in your back pocket. In addition to racing, there are always plenty of dryland displays, demonstrations, vendors, and food options.

OPBRA 2018 Reference Guide P3 OPBRA ARTICLE I - TITLE 1. The name of this organization shall be Ontario Power Boat Racing Association, hereinafter referred to as OPBRA. 2. The location of the principal OPBRA office shall be in the city/township of the office of OPBRA’s legal counsel. Board of Director (BOD) meetings shall be announced in writing, by conference call, email, online, or in person. 3. OPBRA is a nonprofit organization, and all business shall be conducted as a nonprofit organization. ARTICLE II – PURPOSE The purposes for which OPBRA is organized are: 1. To stimulate interest in owning, racing or watching outboard power boats. 2. To encourage family participation in all phases of boating motor sports. 3. To promote cooperation among similar clubs and broaden viewer awareness in the sport of outboard power boat racing. 4. To promote an inclusive environment and joint racing events.
