It has a range of about 1,000 miles and a top speed of 200 mph. When constructed according to plans and operated within the approval C. G. range, the canard con- figuration makes it highly resistant to stalls or loss of position control. The MK IV features full dual control and two-axis trim. The composite construction is very strong, resistant to corrosion and fatigue, and offers better protection to the occupants than other types of construction. Aircraft Spruce acquired the Cozy design rights in January 2004 and is now the sole source for Cozy plans and info packs. The Christavia was designed in 1982 as a mission field workhorse. Design requirements were short take-off and landing, small engine (low fuel consumption), low stall speed, good cruise speed and rate of climb, large cabin area, low maintenance and high safety factor. The Christavia is easy to fly, and the Iarge cabin makes long flights very comfortable. Over 1000 sets of the plans have been sold for the MK1 (two place tandem), MK2 (two place side-by-side), and Christavia MK4 (four place). Aircraft Spruce has plans available for these aircraft at $225 per set as well as an information pack for $10. They keep the windshield and window surfaces clean and help prevent vandalism and theft. The Lancair ES Canopy Cover is custom-designed for each model, as well as your aircraft's specific antenna and temperature probe placements, if applicable. The Canopy Cover is designed to enclose the windshield, side windows and canopy roof. The Canopy Cover attaches using adjustable "belly straps", which run under the belly and connect to the other side of the cover with a quick-release plastic buckle. When requested, it is also sometimes possible to design Canopy covers that can attach to the aircraft fuselage using pop-riveted snap-heads at the rear and snap-head screws on the engine cowl. This cover type is made from Silver Acrylic Sunbrella canvas and is 100% lined with a soft and smooth microfiber. Bruce's Custom Covers developed this material combination especially for aircraft protection. The outer material is medium weight and treated for water resistance, UV resistance and anti-static buildup. The inner lining is a very soft and smooth microfiber to prevent scratching.

  • Unusual Attitudes and the Aerodynamics of Maneuvering Flight Author’S Note to Flightlab Students
Unusual Attitudes and the Aerodynamics of Maneuvering Flight Author’s Note to Flightlab Students The collection of documents assembled here, under the general title “Unusual Attitudes and the Aerodynamics of Maneuvering Flight,” covers a lot of ground. That’s because unusual-attitude training is the perfect occasion for aerodynamics training, and in turn depends on aerodynamics training for success. I don’t expect a pilot new to the subject to absorb everything here in one gulp. That’s not necessary; in fact, it would be beyond the call of duty for most—aspiring test pilots aside. But do give the contents a quick initial pass, if only to get the measure of what’s available and how it’s organized. Your flights will be more productive if you know where to go in the texts for additional background. Before we fly together, I suggest that you read the section called “Axes and Derivatives.” This will introduce you to the concept of the velocity vector and to the basic aircraft response modes. If you pick up a head of steam, go on to read “Two-Dimensional Aerodynamics.” This is mostly about how pressure patterns form over the surface of a wing during the generation of lift, and begins to suggest how changes in those patterns, visible to us through our wing tufts, affect control. If you catch any typos, or statements that you think are either unclear or simply preposterous, please let me know. Thanks. • Revised Listing of Amateur Built Aircraft Kits
REVISED LISTING OF AMATEUR-BUILT AIRCRAFT KITS Updated on: June 22, 2021 The following is a revised listing of aircraft kits that have been evaluated and found eligible in meeting the “major portion” requirement of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Part 21, Certification Procedures for Products and Parts, specifically, § 21.191(g). • This listing is only representative of those kits where the kit manufacturer or distributor requested an evaluation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for eligibility and should not be construed as meaning the kit(s) are FAA “certified,” “certificated,” or “approved.” • There are other aircraft kits that may allow a builder to meet the “major portion” requirement of § 21.191(g), but those manufacturers or distributors have not requested an FAA evaluation. • The placement of an aircraft kit on this list is not a prerequisite for airworthiness certification. • The primary purpose of this listing is to assist FAA Inspectors/Designees and other interested individuals by eliminating the duplication of evaluations for “major portion” determination when the aircraft is presented for airworthiness certification as an “Amateur-Built Experimental.” • Kit manufacturers or distributors whose status is unknown are identified with a question (?) mark and their address has been deleted. Additional Information and Guidance • Advisory Circular (AC) 20-27G, Certification and Operation of Amateur-Built Aircraft. • FAA Order 8130.35B, Amateur-Built Aircraft National Kit Evaluation Team • Contact your local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) or Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO). Those publications and other information pertaining to amateur-built experimental aircraft are available online at http://www.faa.gov/aircraft.

STRAIGHT AND LEVEL By Brad Thomas The bitter winter cold arrived with a bang in early President January and not only stopped motorists but schools, Antique/Classic Division businesses and commercial air travel in many areas of the country. Those of us in the process of restorations do have something to accomplish if we have an avail able working area that can be heated, and those with out heat will just have to wait until spring arrives. Even with a heated working area you must be careful of sudden changes in temperatures when moving your projects around. We well remember a few years back when Steve Wittman was heading to Florida for the Sun 'N Fun Convention when it was being held in January. It was quite cold outside and when Steve rolled his Tail wind out of the heated hangar and into the sudden temperature change, he was amazed to watch his wind son, now designated a national monument. The only shield disintegrate before his eyes. The extreme im methods of travel to Fort Jefferson are by boat or sea mediate temperature change was too much for the syn plane, and naturally with our love of flying and mini thetic material. Eager to get into the warmer climates, mum time available, we chose the seaplane. Departing Steve merely pushed the aircraft back into his shop, Key West in a Cessna 206 floatplane we toured the brought out "Old Faithful" and away he went. route at an altitude of about 500 feet, enjoying the Our antiques pretty well remain dormant during sights along the way.
