It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

    The Athelstan Trust Mid-Year Report to Parents March 2020 Caring, Collaborative and Excellent SIR WILLIAM ROMNEY’S SCHOOL POISED TO JOIN THE TRUST The Athelstan Trust is a successful, collaborative family of schools that each have their own individual identity and culture according to the communities within which they are located. We are delighted that the Governing Body at Sir William Romney’s School in Tetbury recently voted to join us. There is a strong mutual benefit both for the schools already in the Trust but also to Sir William Romney’s which is a good school with strong outcomes, an excellent reputation as a caring, inclusive school and close proximity to Malmesbury and Bradon Forest. There is already a history of working together through the Avon Teaching School Alliance, the ‘Gaining Ground Project’ and Model United Nations days. There has been a process of legal and financial due diligence and staff from all schools within the Trust have been collaborating with staff at Sir William Romney’s to identify ways to work together, share resources and learn from each other. ‘Sir William Romney’s continues to grow in numbers and we are very proud of students’ achievements not only in GCSE exams but across all aspects of our curriculum. People took part in a range of activities that included cardio, mini and junior tennis coaching as well as family and free play tennis sessions. Wiltshire and Swindon Disability Tennis Network plan developed in 2015. Disability Tennis Taster Days were held and Disability Tennis sessions now taking place across Wiltshire.     Headteacher Bradon Forest School L25 to L31 (£76,141 to £88,187) The Athelstan Trust wishes to appoint an excellent teacher and school leader to the post of Headteacher at Bradon Forest School from September 2021. The Athelstan Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust formed in 2015 consisting of four (soon to be five) secondary schools (Malmesbury School, Bradon Forest School, Sir William Romney’s School and The Dean Academy) in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Bradon Forest is a successful and popular 11-16 school with approximately 1,000 students in the rural village of Purton, surrounded by stunning Wiltshire countryside with easy access to the M4. There is shared sixth form provision with Malmesbury School. Bradon Forest School was inspected in 2016 and judged Good in all areas. All the Trust’s schools share a deep commitment to delivering an excellent comprehensive education to all our students. At Bradon Forest, we continue to update and develop our attractive site following the construction of our new state of the art sports hall in 2016, adding a new food and textiles block in 2018. The knock-on effects of any closure create major inconvenience for families and the normal smooth running of our school. A number of important activities both for students and staff have had to be rescheduled (where possible) or cancelled altogether. The Year 8 Parent/Subject Teacher Consultation Evening has been rescheduled for Thursday 15 March 2007. Letters and appointment sheets will be reissued by the Key Stage 3 team in Term 4. The decision to close Bradon Forest last Thursday was taken at 6.40 am after consultation and inspection of the site and access to the school. The road including The Peak is not treated as it is classed as residential and not a priority. Access and conditions, both on the sloped entrance to The Peak, plus in and around the site, were not safe. Delivery lorries and several cars were unable to gain access. Our rural position and very open car park with its narrow access point exacerbated the situation and made the site conditions difficult. When a closure decision is made it needs to be made early enough to ensure radio stations are alerted (BBC Local Radio, GWR and Brunel FM were broadcasting our decision from 7.00 am) and families are aware of the position as soon as possible.
