Educational institutions remained closed and the biggest challenge was how to stay connected with the st Sardar Masood Khan Chancellor Foreword The year 2020-21 was another year of success for the university of Poonch Rawalakot as we have further improved our performance in different areas. Teaching was continued on campus and off campus depending on the COVID-19 situation. The bottlenecks faced earlier in on-line teaching have been overcome to a greater extent. The university is gradually moving toward automation and has acquired LMS system. The modules related to online admission, course registration, attendance, fee management system, student’s portal and online learning modules have been developed and fully implemented. The finance office has already adopted purpose-built software for managing the financial affair of the university. Due to uncertain conditions due COVID-19, The University could not organize conference, however, to keep our faculty and student updated about the development in their field’s webinars were arranged. Our faculty member were successful in winning projects. Current research work on projects worth 88 million is in progress, including projects from previous year and present one. New degree programs have been initiated and the existing have been strengthened further. The number of Student applicant seeking admission in UPR is continuously on the rise reflecting high level of confidence of the students and their parents on the quality of education offered at UPR. Faculty strength has been enhanced by hiring best of the best through a transparent selection procedure. The Ph.D. degree holder now constitute 42% of the total faculty members Extending financial support to the students has bee on the top of our agenda. I am pleased to share that 35% of our total student population is receiving financial support in the form of different scholarship. This year students have received a total amount of 178 million rupees as financial support. Being a young University, we are fully conscious to the infrastructure development. Construction work on Phase 1 of Trrar Campus including a girl hostel, library, academic and administration block is at final stage and it is expected that by the end of the year these four building will be hand over to the University. A new PC1 for phase 11 of trrar campus worth 1.57334 billion have been approved and has been reflected in the PSD with allocation of 200 million for the year 2021-22. On completion of Phase ii, it is expected that the space and students’ accommodation issue would be resolved. The credit of the achievements goes to the unprecedented support of the Chancellor, dedicated and competent team of teachers and member of the management team of the university who work tirelessly for the uplift their institution. I am sure that the synergy which has been created through team work will transform the university into one of the best institutions in the country. M. Rasul Jan PoP, SI Vice Chancellor University of Poonch Rawalakot Executive Summary I am pleased to share that 2020-21 has been another year of success for the University of Poonch Rawalakot. Though the reporting year remained under lock down situation due to COVID-19 Pandemic, however we tried our level best to minimize academic loss of the students and maintained the pace of our developmental work. It was a big challenge but by the grace of Allah and with the commitment of our management team, Faculty members and our students, we were able to succeed in our goal. During the year, University of Poonch Rawalakot remained committed to provide access and support to the students, improving quality, governance and building physical infrastructure. During 2020-21, the overall student enrolment rose to 5495 compared to 5094 of last year. The University continued its focus on the students to achieve academic excellence, leadership quality, and passion for service. Nearly 36% of the students were benefitted from financial assistance programs. Assistance was offered under UPR Merit Scholarship (1.5 million), Ehsas Scholarship (124,116789 million), HEC’s Need Based Scholarship (7.9 million) and Punjab Education Endowment Fund (Rs 5.3 million). During the year, on campus sports activities could not be organized due to pandemic. However, University of Poonch Rawalakot volleyball team won HEC intervarsity volleyball championship and qualified for all Pakistan final round volleyball championship. On the other hand, the Directorate of student’s affair arranged a series of co-curricular activities like Youth Skills Enhancement Workshop, Youm-e-Shuda- e-Jammu, Black Day, Speech Competition and Talent Competition to engage students. viii University of Poonch Rawalakot During the reporting year, 1243 students graduated from university and its affiliated colleges as compared to 1073 in the previous year. Various accreditation councils visited the University, and several degree programs were successfully accredited in Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences and Faculty of Engineering & Technology The R&D activities continued to flourish, and the faculty members were able to publish more than 200 research articles national and international journals. Similarly, faculty members also secured research grants worth Rs. 16.76 million from national and international funding agencies. Faculty development programme remained top on University agenda, as 9 faculty members rejoined the university after acquiring M.Phil. and PhD degrees, while 19 faculty members are perusing their M.Phil. and PhD degrees from various national and international institutions. During the year, 10 new faculty members were appointed. During the year 2020-21, University of Poonch Rawalakot organized several webinars, seminars, and workshops highlighting pandemic impact on health, education, and food security. Besides academic activities, University of Poonch Rawalakot organized numerous community-based programs i.e., plantation drives, medical camps and veterinary medical camps to bring awareness among students and local community about the importance of animal health. During the years 2020-21, faculty members participated in 97 webinars, seminars, workshops and presented their research work both at national and international level. UPR remained focused on improving the University’s governance and operations by holding regular meetings of the statutory bodies which contributes to smooth running and streamlining the affairs of the University. During 2020-21, five Advanced Studies and Research Board, one Academic Council, five Selection Boards, one Finance and Planning, two Syndicate, and two Senate meetings were conducted. During 2020-21, University of Poonch Rawalakot made steady progress towards building physical infrastructure. We have been successful in convincing the Government of AJK for completing Eidgah to Chottagala Sub- campus link road at the cost of Rs. 145 million. During the reporting year, Rs. 1870 million rupees civil work is under process, with over all physical progress of 73%. Similarly, University of Poonch Rawalakot was successful in acquiring the approval of 2nd phase of the mega project “Strengthening of University of Poonch Rawalakot” worth Rs. 1574 million. These achievements were made possible due to the kind support of the Chancellor and his secretariate and the commitment and teamwork of the faculty members and management team of the university of Poonch Rawalakot.
