*Successful Students Are Advised to Check Their Particulars Mentioned Below I.E STUDENTS LOAN SCHEME – NAMES OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS FOR THE SESSION 2015-2016 ANNOUNCEMENT The State Bank of Pakistan's Apex Committee, a high powered body on Students Loan Scheme (SLS) has approved an amount of Rs.174.923 million (Against 14th Advertisement) of Interest free loan to 1,044 deserving students for their entire period of studies. These students have been pursuing their studies in different technical and professional disciplines leading to Graduation, Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D within Pakistan in public sector universities/colleges during the Session 2015-2016. Important :- Please Note that the current year disbursement has to be made within 45 days from the date of receipt of the Sanction Advice by the eligible student. Thereafter, no disbursement will be allowed without prior clearance of the Students Loan Wing, NBP, Head Office, Karachi. In case the student’s copy is misplaced/undelivered, the Principal/Registrar may provide photocopy of the “Sanction Advice” to the student to facilitate disbursement by the concerned Branch. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS *Successful Students are advised to check their particulars mentioned below i.e. names, permanent & postal address, institutions, their CNIC numbers and their Domiciles. If there is any correction required they should send email with existing particulars or applicant’s eligibility reference No. to Mr. Shamim Iqbal, Senior Vice President, NBP at e-mail [email protected] within fifteen (15) days of this announcement. ** All those un-successful students who could not meet the qualification/eligibility criteria of the Students Loan Scheme are advised that if they are eager to know the assigned reason of their disqualification they may send e-mail at the above mentioned address.     Religious Ideology and Discourse: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Marsiya-e-Hussain Snobra Rizwan Lecturer, Department of English Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan Pakistan Tariq Saeed Assisstant Professor, Department of English Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan Pakistan Ramna Fayyaz Lecturer, Department of English Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan Pakistan ABSTRACT This paper employs Fairclough’s framework of critical discourse analysis (Fairclough, 2001; 2003) as a research tool to demonstrate how mourning discourse of marsiya manages to win favourite responses from Pakistani audiences by foregrounding certain linguistic conventions. The data comprising popular marsiyas are based on responses obtained through a small-scale survey and are analyzed from the perspective of ideology and emotive appeal embedded in discourse. The analysis illustrates that discourse conventions of marsiya—in addition to traditional commemoration of martyrdom of Imam Hussian—serve to elaborate, explain and disseminate religious doctrines in Pakistani Shi‘ah masses. Keywords: Marsiya, Critical Discourse Analysis, Ideology, Shiism 1. Introduction This paper provides a close study to examine the distinguishing features of marsiya-e-Hussain and the way discursive choices of certain transitivity features, figurative language and lyrical conventions serve to make it a distinct poetic genre of its own. Though marsiya recitation is taken to be a means of commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain; nevertheless, it means much more to Shi’ia community. Along with other mourning rituals, marsiya is considered to be a means of seeking waseela (mediation) from the saints, teaching and learning religious ideologies, seeking God’s pleasure and so on (‘Azadari; mourning for Imam Hussain’, 2009). All these objectives are achieved by following certain discourse conventions which in turn construct certain discursive reality and weigh heavily on the formation of distinctive opinion and religious ideology in Shi‘ah masses.

    1 2 3 DEVELOPMENT SCENARIO General Azad Jammu and Kashmir lies between longitude 730 - 750 and latitude of 33o - 36o and comprises of an area of 5134 Square Miles (13297 Square Kilometers). The topography of the area is mainly hilly and mountainous with valleys and stretches of plains. Azad Kashmir is bestowed with natural beauty having thick forests, fast flowing rivers and winding streams, main rivers are Jehlum, Neelum and Poonch. The climate is sub-tropical highland type with an average yearly rainfall of 1300 mm. The elevation from sea level ranges from 360 meters in the south to 6325 meters in the north. The snow line in winter is around 1200 meters above sea level while in summer, it rises to 3300 meters. According to the 1998 population census the state of Azad Jammu & Kashmir had a population of 2.973 million, which is estimated to have grown to 3.868 million in 2009. Almost 100% population comprises of Muslims. The Rural: urban population ratio is 88:12. The population density is 291 persons per Sq. Km. Literacy rate which was 55% in 1998 census has now raised to 64%. Approximately the infant mortality rate is 56 per 1000 live births, whereas the immunization rate for the children under 5 years of age is more than 95%. The majority of the rural population depends on forestry, livestock, agriculture and non- formal employment to eke out its subsistence. Average per capita income has been estimated to be 1042 US$*. Unemployment ranges from 6.0 to 6.5%. In line with the National trends, indicators of social sector particularly health and population have not shown much proficiency.
