Oxford Archaeology North (OA North), at the request of CgMs Consulting, produced a project design for two phases of work (Q2 Phase 1 and Q2 Phase 2; Fig 2) scheduled to take place, respectively, during 2012 and 2013, each investigating areas covering approximately 2ha of the application area. This report presents the interim results of the Q2 Phase 1 works. Q2 Phase 1 of the fieldwork took place between 16 th April and 16 th May 2012. A large east-west aligned ditch was investigated both by hand and using a mechanical excavator. This produced Roman/Romano-British pottery from secure deposits in the base of the feature, suggesting its date, as well as human remains. This ditch corresponded to a cropmark feature (CgMs 2002) that continued into the area of the Melton Villa site (Mackey 1981), so it seems likely that the feature represents a major land boundary associated with the villa. Post-medieval pottery in the top of the ditch provides evidence that the ditch remained visible as a feature of the landscape for many centuries. The rest of the site was sparsely populated by a scattering of charcoal-rich pits and postholes, four of which contained prehistoric – probably Neolithic pottery and two of those contained flint blades, further supporting the Neolithic date. This is an extension to the existing quarry, for which permission was originally granted in 1973. Oxford Archaeology North (OA North) at the request of CgMs Consulting, produced a project design for two phases of work within the Q2 area of the quarry (Phase 1 and Phase 2; Fig 2) scheduled to take place, respectively, during 2012 and 2013, each investigating areas covering approximately 2ha of the application area. This report presents the interim results of the Q2 Phase 1 works. It has been agreed with the Humber Archaeology Partnership that the full assessment report of the findings will be produced following the completion of the Q2 Phase 2 works, in order that both phases of work can be included in a single report. 1.1.2 Condition No 9 states: ‘No development shall take place until the applicant has secured the implementation of a programme of archaeological work in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) which has been submitted by the applicant and approved by the Planning Authority. 1.1.3 The scheme shall provide for: a) the proper identification and evaluation of the extent, character and significance of archaeological remains within the application area; b) an assessment of the impact of the proposed development on the archaeological remains; c) proposals for the preservation in situ , or for the investigation, recording and recovery of archaeological remains and the publishing of the findings, it being

Bridlington Road Runners claimed a win with Scott Hargreaves picking up his sixth victory of the year on the cliff-top course in a time of 17:32. Patricia Bielby (24:23) was back on home ground and finished as third female and 41st over- BRR Summer Challenge 2019 all. Nck Jordan finished 8th in 19:33 and Alan Feldberg was 12th in 20:53. 1.     f CITY OF HULL AC Supported by Simply Running, Albion Street, Hull & Start Fitness, Butcher Row, Beverley NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2004 City of Hull Christmas Handicap, Sunday 19th December Registration will take place in the Humber Bridge car park opposite the cafe. The race will start at 11.00am prompt down in the country park, heading off to Ferriby and back, finishing in the country park where we started. Could all runners please bring a small gift, to be handed in before the race. These will then be used as prizes at the presentation in Haltemprice Sports Centre bar which should start about 1.00pm. London Marathon Places The club has received 4 places for the 2005 London Marathon and as dictated in the covering letter, these places should go to members who work for the good of the club. At a recent committee meeting it was decided to award 3 entries to members who help in the running of the club and 1 entry will be put into a drawer, to be held at the Christmas handicap. Could all members who would like to be considered for this drawer place, hand in their rejection letter to a committee member before, or on the day of the Christmas Handicap by 12.30pm.
