Technical Data Sheet 1 FNRS 1 BALLOOn Balloon External diameter : 30 metres Payload : 1000 kg Materials : cotton and rubber Fuel : hydrogen Construction : Riedinger Ballon Fabrik (A), in 1931 The balloon was inflated with hydrogen, since the production of helium was too expensive in 1930. The diameter of the inflated balloon was 30 metres, its volume 14,130 m3. The balloon’s payload was 1000 kg and it was therefore clearly oversized in relation to the load to be carried. Its capacity theoretically enabled it to lift a locomotive! The balloon’s envelope consisted of two layers of cotton bonded by an intermediate layer of rubber. The fabric was dyed yellow (chloramine). This colour absorbs part of the sun’s blue, violet and ultraviolet rays. On take-off the balloon took the shape of a pear. It was only at altitude, when the pressure fell, that the balloon became spherical. To prevent the water from entering the cylinder, greased leather connections were integrated at the cylinder for the operators arms. 1776 – The first submarine was used for a military attack. 1826 – Charles Anthony and John Deane patented a helmet for fire fighters. This helmet was used for diving too. This first version was not fitted to the diving suit. One of her favorite places was a pond. Her parent, particularly her mother was very influential in teaching her respect for animals. She always emphasized putting animals back where they were found after observing them. Sylvia took notes as a young child on the things that she observed. They also taught her not to fear the unknown. Horseshoe Crab Story Sylvia as a little girl at the beach was curious about the horseshoe crabs and how they moved. She was also concerned that they were stranded on the beach. She tried to pick them up, turn them around and sent them back to the ocean, not realizing that they were coming up on shore to lay their eggs and that she was really interfering with their mating. (see additional notes on horseshoe crabs) Reading As a child she liked to read. She liked science fiction, fairy tales, and animal stories. As she got a little older, she found that she liked non-fiction books even better. One of her favorite books was by William Beebe name Half Mile Down. He wrote about going down in the ocean in a vehicle like a submarine. In her book Sea Change and some of her other writings and interviews she refers to it frequently. After reading that book she started reading more non-fiction books and began liking the encyclopedia. -

However, a systematic approach to study the role of transcription factors (TFs) in mediating cancer metabolic rewiring is missing. Here, we chart a genome-scale map of TF-metabolite associations in human using a new combined computational-experimental framework for large-scale metabolic profiling of adherent cell lines, and the integration of newly generated intracellular metabolic profiles of 54 cancer cell lines with transcriptomic and proteomic data. We unravel a large space of dependencies between TFs and central metabolic pathways, suggesting that the regulation of carbon metabolism in tumors may be more diverse and flexible than previously appreciated. This map provides an unprecedented resource to predict TFs responsible for metabolic transformation in patient-derived tumor samples, opening new opportunities in designing modulators of oncogenic TFs and in understanding disease etiology. The Omega seahorse symbolizing water resistance has even become one of the best known logos. BY JENS KOCH he history of divers’ watches at Omega began not only at an ex - T tremely early point in time but with a timekeeper that was better known for its elegance than its robust construc - tion. This is not surprising, for it was the age of art deco and thus rectangular watches. In 1932, the Omega Marine was already defining revolutionary case making: a double case ensured water re - sistance, while a tensioning lever pushed the inner case against a leather seal. The outer crystal was crafted in scratchproof sapphire, a rarity at the time. The watch was available in rust-free Staybrite steel as well as in gold. A strap crafted in seal leather guaranteed resistance to salt wa - ter, and the folding clasp offered length adjustment.
