DIRECTIONS TO THE STATE FAIR State Fair visitors can ride the DART Rail Green Line to two stations - Fair Park Station, located on Parry Avenue at the entrance to the fairgrounds, and MLK, Jr. Station, located south of R.B. Cullum Blvd. and convenient to the MLK fairground entrance (Gate 6) and the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Traveling from Denton County? Take the A-train from one of five stations and transfer to DART’s Green Line at Trinity Mills. **Please note: The A-train does not operate on Sunday. DRIVING DIRECTIONS From Sherman-Plano-Richardson Take U.S. 75 (North Central Expressway) South toward Downtown Dallas. Take exit 284A to connect to Interstate 30 East (toward Texarkana), then take exit 48B and follow directions to Fair Park. From Austin-Waco Take Interstate 35E North to Downtown Dallas. Take exit 428B to connect to Interstate 30 East (toward Texarkana), then take exit 48B and follow directions to Fair Park. From Fort Worth-Abilene-Weatherford Take Interstate 30 East to Dallas. Follow the signs for Interstate 30 East toward Texarkana. After you pass Downtown Dallas, take exit 48B and follow directions to Fair Park. From Denton-Lewisville-Gainesville Take Interstate 35E South to Downtown Dallas and exit 427E. Immediately after taking the exit, move to one of the left two lanes which will put you on Interstate 30, Eastbound. Follow the signs for Interstate 30 East toward Texarkana. After you pass Downtown Dallas, take exit 48B and follow directions to Fair Park. From Houston-Huntsville-Corsicana Take Interstate 45 North to exit 284A. Move to the right lane and follow the signs for Interstate 30 East. Take exit 48B and follow directions to Fair Park. From Texarkana-Greenville-Rockwall Take Interstate 30 West toward Downtown Dallas. Take exit 49B and follow directions to Fair Park. POLICY 3: Use Transportation improvements to strengthen key destinations within Lancaster. Introduction The purpose of a city’s transportation system is to provide the safe and efficient movement of people and goods within a comprehensive network of streets that complement the surrounding land uses. In addition to handling current and future congestion, a city’s transportation systems should be both livable and equitable. Creating a livable transportation environment means providing a system that serves people instead of just vehicles. Creating an equitable transportation system refers to ensuring that our transportation decision benefit people at all socio-economic levels. To ensure that Lancaster’s transportation system meets these livability and equitable ideals as the system is expanded, a number of challenges must be addressed. The City will continue to attract residents and businesses and the cities in the surrounding area will continue to grow, which will increase the volume of traffic that regularly travels to and through Lancaster. All of these challenges point to the need for a system that is less focused on the automobile and more attuned to developing and promoting alternative modes of transportation as viable options for mobility. The Preferred Future Land Use Scenario and the growth it is expected to create establish the foundation for the Transportation Strategy.
