Waimak United Football Club SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 30th June 2018 waimakunited.org.nz COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Hello and welcome to another week of football. The in-house junior program is now well into its stride and it is great to see so many kids out there learning new skills, trying their hardest and having fun. Thanks again to all the coaches who give their time and effort to make it all possible. Many kids will be experiencing their first World Cup and trying to take what they see on the screen out into the playground during the week and then the pitch in the weekend - I still have memories of following my first World Cup many years ago. The World Cup has also provided a distraction for some of the more mature members of the club, with a few looking worse for wear after early morning viewing. The tournament has now progressed to the knockout stages, with some of the pre-tournament favourites barely making it through. I am sure we'll see a few more upsets before the final whistle is blown. Speaking of tournaments, planning is well progressed for various tournaments that our club teams will be involved in over the coming months. We are proud to be able to field 14 strong teams in the South Island Tournaments in October. This is testament to the strength and depth that we have in our Junior and Youth grades. The club is also proud to be hosting the Alan Fraser Memorial Tournament for girls in mid-July.

Waimak United Football Club SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 4th August 2018 waimakunited.org.nz COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Welcome all to another Weekend of Football. As the Twilight of the Season looms over us I think it is fair to say that the season has had its ups and downs and as the focus of many of our Junior and Youth Teams now starts to switches towards Tournaments in September and October I would like to take this opportunity to focus on the non playing part of our club and the thing that makes everything possible, our volunteers. I would like to thank all of the people who tirelessly give their time for the reward of seeing the players step over the white line and enjoy the beautiful game. Thank you for turning up to training when the pressure is on at work, thank you for washing the kit, planning the sessions and sending the texts and emails. Thank you for organising and turning up to fundraisers and all of the other things that you do on a weekly basis to make this club and your team possible. On that note we still have some season left to play so good luck to all of our team playing this weekend. Most of all enjoy the game, and enjoy the time you spend with your team. Win, Lose or Draw you are a team. The days when you lose are the days where you really get to know the character of the people around you in that team and that allows the team to grow.

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Friday 8th June 2018 Saturday 9th June 2018 www.waimakunited.org.nz COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Hello all and welcome to another week of the glorious game we call football. I have had the pleasure of seeing many teams throughout all the grades play this season, the thing that makes me smile the most is the fun and enjoyment that is being had by everyone at the games. Being a parent, a coach and on the board of Waimak United FC this is something that is very important to me and I want to strengthen throughout the club. As previously reported the club is going through some changes and the admin team, with help from the board are working very hard (day & night) to bring some positive changes and a new way forward for the whole club. The team are starting to make plans for next season with some much needed changes already on the way. However we cannot possibly do this on our own, this will take the whole club to help this happen. We are as a board trying to get out amongst our players and parents to make ourselves known and to listen to your feedback on how things are going so far, and any suggestions you may have going forward. We do need help we just don't know who to ask and what you can do to help us, so please if you feel like you could make a difference even if it is just a once off do come and talk to us or drop us a line, we are more than happy to share the load.

Waimak United Football Club SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 27th July 2018 waimakunited.org.nz Photo Credit: Mak Shots COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Waimak United would like to welcome Parklands United to Kendall Park this Saturday to kick off against our two CCL men’s teams. First up is our CCL Reserves at 12.30pm followed by the Men’s CCL team at 2.30pm. Good luck and we wish the teams all the best. This month we have hosted the Alan Fraser Memorial Tournament which saw our girl’s teams kick off against teams from around Christchurch and the South Island. It was a fantastic weekend of football and we look forward to hosting the 14th Grade Girls teams for the South Island Tournament in October. We also had teams competing in the Christchurch International Cup in Christchurch as well as some of our players competing in the National Youth Futsal Tournament; well done to them all. We held a Fundraising dinner at CBK in Kaiapoi. It was a great night out with great food and company. Hamish and the staff at CBK were fantastic and at the end of the evening we were presented with a cheque for $500 for monies raised from our loyalty card program. We have a couple more fundraisers coming up before the end of the season, including a social fundraiser at Inflatable World on Sunday 12th August and a Quiz night at CBK Kaiapoi on Monday 20th August; great fun and entertainment for everyone! We would also like to say congratulations to Gabi Rennie who is on her way to France to compete in the FIFA U-20 World Cup for New Zealand and to Duncan Reed for being named goal keeping coach for the team.

It was a great weekend of football, and they played extremely well. Thank you to all the teams who travelled to our tournament from all over the South Island. We were thrilled to host your teams and we hope to see you next year. We wished to thank all the volunteers over the two days; coaches, managers, referees, BBQ and tuck shop helpers, board members and parents. Without our volunteers we wouldn’t of had a tournament. Waimak United Football wish to say a big thank you to Hamish and his team at CBK Kaiapoi for hosting our Fundraising Dinner Thursday night. It was a fantastic evening with great food and company. Thank you to all those who could make it along. It was finished with Hamish handing over a cheque for $500 to the club from monies raised at our Quiz night and from the loyalty card program.
