WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Friday 8th June 2018 Saturday 9th June 2018

www.waimakunited.org.nz COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB

Hello all and welcome to another week of the glorious game we call football.

I have had the pleasure of seeing many teams throughout all the grades play this season, the thing that makes me smile the most is the fun and enjoyment that is being had by everyone at the games. Being a parent, a coach and on the board of Waimak United FC this is something that is very important to me and I want to strengthen throughout the club.

As previously reported the club is going through some changes and the admin team, with help from the board are working very hard (day & night) to bring some positive changes and a new way forward for the whole club. The team are starting to make plans for next season with some much needed changes already on the way. However we cannot possibly do this on our own, this will take the whole club to help this happen.

We are as a board trying to get out amongst our players and parents to make ourselves known and to listen to your feedback on how things are going so far, and any suggestions you may have going forward. We do need help we just don't know who to ask and what you can do to help us, so please if you feel like you could make a difference even if it is just a once off do come and talk to us or drop us a line, we are more than happy to share the load.

Waimak United FC will be the great football club it once was again.

Enjoy your season UP THE MAK.

Coaches Comments

This week we have a Friday night game under the lights at Kendall Park against . We come into the game after a hard fought point away at Burwood. On a average playing surface we still looked to play good football and in the end were unlucky only to get 1 point out of the game, after having several chances to put the game to bed at 1-0 and then with 10 minutes to go Burwood received a dubious penalty. We will be looking to build on last week's game and claim the 3 points. We know we will have to battle for this especially with having many key players injured or away and Christchurch United starting to gain momentum. Hope to see a good crowd down for this evening game.

Thanks Adam.

Coaches Comments

This weekend brings to close the final game of the second round in the WPL, with a tough match against league leaders Cashmere Technical. The short season means that every match in this league is of vital importance, not only for points, but also means that every match we need to be striving for top performances and there is little room for poor performances.

Last week the girls performed well against a tough Universities side, where two well taken chances and intelligent defending saw us deservedly go home with three points. It is vital we continue our strong run in this round if we want to keep up to speed with the league leaders, and we know that it will take a strong performance for us to continue to push the top 2 in this league.

Regards, Shane Verma - WPL Coach
