Se describen diez taxones (nueve especies, una con dos variedades) de hongos gasteroides de la provincia de Catamarca, que son: Apioperdon pyriforme, Calvatia fragilis, Geastrum dissimile, G. floriforme, G. papinuttii, G. parvisporum, G. saccatum var. saccatum, G. saccatum var. parvulum, G. striatum y Lysurus periphragmoides. Todos ellos constituyen nuevas citas para la provincia. Geastrum dissimile es una nueva cita para la micobiota de Argentina. Se aportan planchas macro y microscópicas de las colecciones, incluyendo fotografias de la ornamentación esporal al MEB. Ten taxa (nine species one with two varieties) of gasteroid fungi from Catamarca are described: Apioperdon pyriforme, Calvatia fragilis, Geastrum dissimile, G. floriforme, G. papinuttii, G. parvisporum, G. saccatum var. saccatum, G. saccatum var. parvulum, G. striatum and Ly- surus periphragmoides. All of them are new records for this province. Geastrum dissimile is a new record for Argentina. Macro- and microphotographs of these collections are apported, including some observations of spores under SEM. Keywords: Agaricomycetes, Basidiomycota, chorology, taxonomy. The samples were identified based on both conventional methods and ITS rDNA region-based molecular phylogeny. By taking into account the high sequence similarity between the collected samples (ANK Akata & Altuntas 551) and Mycenastrum corium (Guers.) Desv. the relevant specimen was considered to be M. corium and the morphological data also strengthen this finding. This species was reported for the second time from Turkey. With this study, the molecular analysis and a short description of the Turkish M. corium were provided for the first time along with SEM images of spores and capillitium, illustrations of macro and microscopic structures. In addition to being fine mycological books in their own right, they have a great provenance, coming from the libraries of several members of the Fries family – the leading botanist and mycologist family in Sweden. All of the books are from the library of Nils Fries (1912–94), many from that of his grandfather Theodor (Thore) M. Fries (1832–1913), and a few from the library of Nils’ great grandfather Elias M. Fries (1794–1878), “fa- ther of Swedish mycology”. All three were botanists and professors at Uppsala University, as were many other members of the family, often with an orientation towards mycology. Nils Fries field of study was the procreation of mushrooms. Furthermore, Nils Fries has had a partiality for interesting provenances in his purchases – and many international mycologists are found among the former owners of the books in the catalogue. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona.

ABSTRACT — Sampling and analysis of gasteroid agaricomycete species ( Phallomycetidae and Agaricomycetidae ) associated with relicts of native Espinal forests in the southeast region of Córdoba, Argentina, have identified twenty-nine species in fourteen genera: Bovista (4), Calvatia (2), Cyathus (1), Disciseda (4), Geastrum (7), Itajahya (1), Lycoperdon (2), Lysurus (2), Morganella (1), Mycenastrum (1), Myriostoma (1), Sphaerobolus (1), Tulostoma (1), and Vascellum (1). The gasteroid species from the sampled Espinal forests showed an overall similarity with those recorded from neighboring phytogeographic regions; however, a new species of Lysurus was found and is briefly described, and Bovista coprophila is a new record for Argentina. Occurrence in this habitat is characteristic of both species, formerly considered members of the genus Ramaria, and they are apparently the only known representatives within the Gomphales with this ecology in Central Europe. The authors pres- ent macro- and microscopic descriptions and provide rDNA barcode sequence data for both species based on material collected at localities in Bohemia. Eight species belonging to two genera were recognized: Battarrea, represented by B. phalloides, and Tulostoma, represented by T. brasiliense, T. cyclophorum, T. dumeticola, T. exasperatum, T. pygmaeum, T. rickii, and T. striatum. All species are described and illustrated by line drawings and photos, including scanning electron micrographs of the basidiospores. Illustrations of the peridium structure are furnished for most taxa. Key words — Agaricales, gasteromycetes, stalked puffballs Introduction The family Tulostomataceae E. Fisch. (Basidiomycota) comprises stalked puffballs belonging to the genera Battarrea Pers., Battarreoides T. Herrera, Chlamydopus Speg., Queletia Fr., Schizostoma Ehrenb. ex Lév., and Tulostoma Pers. (Kirk et al. 2001). Among these, only Battarrea and Tulostoma have been reported in Brazil, although species of Chlamydopus, Queletia, and Schizostoma are known in Argentina and other neighboring countries (Wright 1949, Mahú 1980, Dios et al. 2004). Tulostoma is the largest genus, with more than 140 species, occurring mainly in xerophilous habitats, and to a lesser extent, in forest environments (Wright 1987). Tulostomataceae was recently included in the Agaricales Underw.
