Holy Cross College Café Menu Holy Cross College Café Menu - Autumn/Winter Online Ordering Available! Our College Café aims to provide students, staff and our College community with a nutritious and affordable range of foods to encourage all to make healthy choices for their lives including healthy food choices. The Cafe is open for breakfast, recess and lunch daily. Availability of some items will be determined on the day. Students are to pay for items in cash, by EFTPOS or by using the preloaded funds on their Smart-rider at the time they are purchased. No credit will be given to students. In keeping with our Healthy Eating Policy, pastries will be sold only on Monday and Friday. Parent help is always needed and appreciated. Please feel free to pop in anytime. Studies on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy Abstract Based on a complementary mixed-methods design, the dissertation sheds light on the relationship between meat consumption practices and consumers’ socioeconomic po- sition. In a first step, two large-scale data sets, the German Einkommens- und Ver- brauchsstichprobe (EVS) 2013 and the Socioeconomic Panel (GSOEP) 2016, are used to establish empirical relationships between meat consumption practices and consumers’ socioeconomic position. Education and income do not show the same effects across social groups. Income most strongly affects the meat consumption patterns of low-in- come consumers, and income effects diminish as income increases. Furthermore, in- come does not make much of a difference for consumers with low levels of education. Meat-reduced and meat-free diets are also more common among students and among self-employed persons, even after controlling for income and education. Income does not necessarily influence the amount of meat that is consumed but the type and price of the meat purchased.

First and most importantly: how is it that after more than 225 years, we have no Australian or regional Australian food culture, nor even any evidence – through recipes and dishes – of its more tangible and visible vector, cuisine? Secondly: what are the consequences for a nation and its people of having bypassed this important stage in the evolution of a society? Thirdly: why in over 200 years living here do we eat practically nothing that grows locally but those fish, birds, crustaceans and shellfish analogous to European produce? And finally, if we do not have a food culture in the historical sense, what do we have? The second third and fourth questions will be answered during the course of the project. The answer to all these questions will require, firstly, an exploration of the history of European occupation of this land and its occupiers.
