ABOUT SRBOBRAN Srbobran is located at the very center of Northern Province of Vojvodina. Municipality has approximately 16,000 inhabitants and area of 284 square kilometers. The main economic activity in the Municipality is focused on agribusiness since the Municipality has more than 27.000ha of most fertile land that could be found in Europe. Other economic activities are mostly focused on energy and petrochemical sector, manufacturing industry, construction industry, logistics and tourism. Actual number is much higher due to large number of inactive population so number of employed and unemployed people are almost the same. Within 15 km 2 from the City of Srbobran there are two other municipalities, Vrbas and Temerin with combined number of more than 10.000 (10162) registered unemployed people. The standard commuting area of 30 minutes or 30 kilometers creates potential labor pool of more than 48.000 people, including City of Novi Sad as second largest university center in 50.000 Serbia with more than 50.000 students, one third of which enrolled at technical studies. Near the city runs one of the Europe’s most frequently used roads E-75. Going from Gdansk and Warsaw, Poland, through Bratislava, Budapest, Subotica, Novi Sad and Belgrade, it connects Eastern and Central Europe with Athens and Istanbul. From the East Novi Sad is reachable by the highway via the city of Zrenjanin. In all the above mentioned cases you will enter the eastern gate of Novi Sad at point A shown in the map below. From there to the workshop venue, it is necessary to navigate approximately as shown in the picture. If you are coming from the West, through Croatia, follow the E-70 and some 60 km (37 mi) after crossing the border take an exit towards the city of Ruma. After that the road will lead you straightforwardly through the passes of mountain Fruska Gora and to Novi Sad. Once at the Mišeluk crossroad you should follow the exit signs towards the Liberty Bridge (point A in the map below) and after crossing the river Danube you will enter the main boulevard (Bulevar oslobodjenja). After about 2 km, if you turn right (Jevrejska street), you will reach the city centre (Bulevar Mihajla Pupina). Obligatory insurance for B category vehicles for foreigners is about 45 EUR for a week (if your car is uninsured).

On 25 January 2008 in Újvidék (Novi Sad) a television journalist called Gyula Mirnics was attacked. The three Serbian nationality aggressors hit and kicked him for minutes. He managed in some degree to defend himself, but anyhow, he had sustained several injuries. Prior to the attack, the victim dictated the news through his mobile phone to the office (of course in Hungarian). On 19 February 2008 the demonstrating Serbian young people were yelling chauvinist slogans in Szabadka (Subotica). The group that was made up of approximately 300 Serbian secondary school students went to the djami, throw stones at the establishment and yelled chauvinist slogans on the account of the Albanians, Hungarians and Croatians. On 20 February 2008 at early dawn in several places in Óbecse (Bečej) malicious graffitis have appeared in the following content: “Albanians now go to your own country as long as we don’t f…k your mothers, Hungarians as well.”; “The independence in Kosovo is a European dependence”; “Delije – Kosovo: Death to the Albanians, Serbia is the Serbs’, minority - out of the country”. On 15 March 2008 a university student with dual citizenship (Serbian-Hungarian) from Szeged (Hungary) was attacked in Szabadka (Subotica).

An analysis of the profiles of small towns was performed and they were compared based on their spatial and population characteristics.
