Almaty–Issyk-Kul Alternative Road Economic Impact Assessment Almaty, a vibrant metropolis in Kazakhstan, is only kilometers away from lake Issyk-Kul in the Kyrgyz Republic, renowned for its mountains and moderate summers. However, the two destinations are separated by two magnificent mountain ranges. To bypass these mountains, the existing road stretches over kilometers, leading to long travel times. This economic impact assessment analyzes what impact a more direct road between the two destinations would have for tourism and economic development in both Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The report provides economically viable solutions that, within a supportive policy environment, would lead to strong economic development within the region. About Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor The Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor (ABEC) is the pilot economic corridor under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program. The motivation for ABEC is that Almaty and Bishkek can achieve far more together than either can achieve alone. The two cities are only kilometers apart with relatively high economic density concentrated in services in the cities and agriculture in their hinterlands. Both Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic have acceded to the Eurasian Economic Union and the World Trade Organization. CAREC corridors and Belt and Road Initiative routes cross ABEC. The historic Silk Route, mountain ranges, and Lake lssyk-Kul underline the potential for tourism. But trade, especially in agricultural goods and services, between the two countries is below potential, and the region does not yet benefit from being one economic space. COVID-19 in Kazakhstan Whole genome sequencing methods Sample collection: Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from 53 symptomatic patients during clinical assessment. Samples were transported at 4-8C in transport medium (medium 199 with Hanks' salts (Sigma, M0393), 4 ml Gentamicin solution (Sigma, G 1397), 11 ml BSA, fraction V (Sigma, A-8412), 11 ml 1 M HEPES buffer solution (Sigma, 83264) and delivered to the laboratory within 8 hours of collection. SARS-CoV-2 infection validation: A commercially available Real-Time Fluorescent RT-PCR kit (BGI, Shenzhen) was used to confirm SARS-CoV-2-positive samples. For the NGS sequencing, samples were selected up to the 24th PCR threshold cycle. RNA extraction and amplification: Total RNA was isolated using the GeneJet Viral DNA and RNA Purification Kit (Thermo Scientific) and quantified by fluorometry. Reverse transcription was performed with three primer mixes (see Table in appendix p. 3) and SuperScript™ IV Reverse Transcriptase (Invitrogen™) in a 40 μL reaction mixture containing 1х SSIV Buffer, 0,5 mM each dNTP, 5 mM DTT, 100 nM each primer, 10 U/μL SuperScript® IV Reverse Transcriptase and 20 μL RNA. -

One of the aspects of gender equality in society is also the language policy. Authors also suggest discussing this subject, involving experience of feministic linguistics of other countries, and first of all, of Germany. Gender and sensitive use of the language in oral and written communication is especially urgent for Kazakhstan as culturally determined features of the language policy in this cultural space have a gap due to the low level of special attention paid to gender democracy in the language. But at the same time, it creates a vast platform for further researches in this direction. -
