Thank you and God Bless, Ulu Bismarck Crawley Co-Chairman NATIONAL BEAUTYFICATION COMMITTEE—LAVATORIES INSPECTION The National Beautification Committee under the leadership of Samoa Tourism Authority conducted an inspection on lavatories for both Upolu and Savaii on the 10th, 11th and 12th of March 2020. The purpose of this monitoring is to make sure that our public facilities are well maintained and cleaned for the community as well as tourists visiting our shores who access to these facilities. Given the population growth and the number of the community who access to our public facilities, the government introduced garden toilets to solve the issue. This project is under the Water and Sanitation Sector Coordination Division on the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. Most of the SANITATION garden toilets are operated by the community where these facilities are SUB-SECTOR located. For public facilities, these are operated by the Samoa Tourism Authority, Ministry of Health, Samoa Housing Cooperation, Samoa Shipping Services as well as Denzal Company. With this visit, the committee found out that there’s a huge maintenance work that needs to be done for most of the public toilets and some garden toilets. It is a must to keep these facilities clean and neat all times for a safer and a healthier Samoa. The Samoa Tourism Authority will dispense $100 every months to the operators for lavatories supplies and cleaning chemicals to ensure that these facilities are well cleaned and maintain for the public access everyday at all times. Some public and garden toilets are well maintained such as; Saleaula Savaii and Mulinuu Public Toilet.
