FOOD RELIEF EFFORTS REPORT APRIL 2021 Shaping the Future In February 2021, Akshaya Patra conducted a survey of parents whose children received Happiness Kits, across Bengaluru, Ballari, Udaipur, Thane and Vadodara. Key takeaways from their findings with regard to the Mid-Day Meal program, the Happiness Kit program and the way ahead are detailed below.

Dry Grocery Kits Are Being Delivered in 32 Locations

Every kit includes either 28 or 42 meals depending on location served, and includes an array of non-perishable foods like rice, dal (lentils), wheat or millet flour, fortified salt, sugar, and spices. Ingredients vary statewide to meet local tastes.

Cooked Meals Are Served in 28 Locations

Fresh meals served comprise of dal and rice, or khichadi/roti and subji.

Relief efforts have also extended to flood relief in Bihar and Assam, and distribution of grocery kits to pregnant and lactating mothers, and young children in Anganwadi Centres.
