BAC members and their Organizations The selected Business Advisory Committee (BAC) Members are representatives of leading newspaper organizations and news channels (print and Visual Media). Malayala Manorama: Malayala Manorama is a daily morning newspaper, in Malayalam language, published from Kottayam in the state of Kerala, India by Malayala Manorama Company Limited. It was first published as a weekly on 22 March 1890, and currently has a readership of over 20 million. According to World Association of Newspapers, as of 2011, it holds a position as the fifth most circulating newspaper in the world. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) 2013 figures, it is the third largest circulating newspapers in India (behind The Times of India and Dainik Jagran) and largest circulating newspaper in Kerala. The Hindu: The Hindu is an English-language Indian daily newspaper. Headquartered at Chennai, The Hindu was published weekly when it was launched in 1878, and started publishing daily in 1889. It is the second most circulated English-language newspaper in India. Kerala Media Academy: Kerala Media Academy (formerly Kerala Press Academy), is an academy of journalists in Kerala. The academy was established on 19 March 1979. It is a joint venture of the Government of Kerala, Kerala Union of Working Journalists and Indian Newspaper Society. The head office of Kerala Press Academy is located at Kakkanad, Kochi, Kerala. The New Indian Express: The New Indian Express is an Indian English- language broadsheet daily newspaper published by the Chennai- based Express Publications. The New Indian Express is now published from all 22 major cities in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha. Deepika: Deepika, a Malayalam language newspaper, is one of the oldest newspapers published in India. Started in 1887, it is the oldest Malayalam newspaper now in circulation. Deepika has a long tradition of going for bold innovations. It introduced many changes in Malayalam journalism. Janmabhumi: Janmabhumi Newspaper is an Indian daily newspaper founded in 1977, published in a broadsheet format and owned by Matruka Pracharanalayam Ltd. Janayugom: Janayugom is the official organ of the Kerala State Committee of the Communist Party of India. It was started in 1947 from Quilon as a weekly magazine to propagate the news and views of the party and the first editor was N. Gopinathan Nair. Asianet News: Asianet News (formerly Asianet Global) is a Malayalam news channel owned by Jupiter Media and Entertainment Venture. The channel is not a part of the STAR India owned Asianet Communications Limited, but comes under the Asianet News Network (ANN) wing of the Jupiter Media. Kaushik Ghosh is the current CEO of Asianet News Network (ANN) the channel is based in Thiruvananthapuram Dooradarshan: Doordarshan is an autonomous Government of India founded public service broadcaster which is owned by Broadcasting Ministry of India and is one of two divisions of Prasar Bharati. It is one of India's largest broadcasting organizations in terms of studio and transmitter infrastructure, having been established on 15 September 1959. It also broadcasts on digital terrestrial transmitters. DD provides television, radio, online and mobile services throughout metropolitan and regional India, as well as overseas, through the Indian Network and Radio India. Members Markose Abraham: He is the chief news editor of Malayala Manorama. M.G Radhakrishnan: He has over 32 years of experience in journalism. Has won various awards including state award for development Journalism, K Balakrishnan prize for excellence in journalism and the Kerala State Film Award for best writing of cinema. He is currently working as the Editor in Asianet News. R.S Babu: He is the chairman of Kerala Media Academy. From 2013 onwards, under Additional Skill Acquisition Programme "Certificate Course in Junior Correspondent" training course is being conducted. Since the inception of the training program our organization, Kerala Media Academy" is providing skill training in ‘Certificate Course in Junior Correspondent’ Course. C Gouridasan Nair: He is a senior journalist working with The Hindu daily as Associate Editor. He has been selected for the telegraph- K V Daniel Award instituted in memory of telegraph founder editor K V Daniel for his overall contribution to journalism. Pradeep Pillai: He is the Chief of Bureau of The New Indian Express. The V Krishnamurthy award (2009-2010) for best English Story went to Pradeep Pillai’s story on “Kerala Government’s War against a war hero”. Sergy Antony: Sergy Antony was an executive council member of Kerala Media Academy. The academy is administered by a General Council and an Executive Council composed of working journalists, media owners, and Government representatives constituted by the Government of Kerala. He is currently working as the Associate Editor of Deepika. Kunhikannan: He is the resident Editor of Janmabhumi. He was elected as the President of Trivandrum district unit of Kerala Union Working Journalist (KUWJ) and Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust. Unnibalakrishnan: Unni Balakrishnan, who was the Regional bureau Chief of Asianet News, joined Mathrubhumi TV during its inception as Editor-in-chief of the channel. Reshmi Roja Tushara Nair: She is the Deputy Director of Doordarshan. .
