  • Canada's Tax-Deductible Support for Israel's Crimes
Canada’s Tax-Deductible Support for Israel’s Crimes By Yves Engler Region: Canada, Middle East & North Africa Global Research, August 25, 2014 Theme: Religion Electronic Intifada 22 August 2014 When is a Canadian who leaves this country to join a foreign military force and participate in the killing of innocent civilians, including children, called a “terror tourist” and sent to jail? The answer is: only when that person joins a military force the Conservative government disagrees with. Numerous ministers in the current federal government have loudly denounced the radicalization of Canadian youth in foreign wars. Last year, the Conservatives passed a law that sets a maximum fifteen year prison sentenceleaving for “or attempting to leaveCanada” to commit terrorism.Jason Kenney, the minister for multiculturalism, recentlysaid the government is trying “to monitor networks that recruit and radicalize youth.” Last month, Somali-Canadian Mohamed Hersi was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to join the al-Shabab militia in Somalia. Arrested at Toronto’s Pearson airport before leaving, Hersi was not found guilty of committing or plotting a specific act of violence, but according to the presiding judge, was “poised to become a terror tourist.” Yet our government does nothing to hundreds of other Canadians who join a different foreign military force which daily terrorizes millions of people and often uses explosives to kill thousands — most of whom are civilians. It’s unknown exactly how many Canadians are participating in Israel’s ongoing attackson Gaza but an Israeli military spokesperson hassaid there were 139 Canadians in the Israeli military in 2013.

When Israel crossed the border in an attempt to rescue them, Hizbollah began its assault on Israel, launching thousands of rockets at nothern Israel. Michael immediately cut short his vacation and returned to Israel to serve with his unit, fighting to receive permission to rejoin them in the north. Michael's unit was sent to a Hizbollah village where Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev had been taken two weeks earlier. During this period, over 27,000 attacks against Israeli citizens and residents have been recorded, and over 1000 Israeli citizens and residents have lost their lives in these attacks. Out of these, 155 (May 2007) attacks were suicide bombings, carried out against Israeli targets by 178 (August 2007) suicide terrorists (male and female). (It should be noted that from 1993 up to the beginning of the conflict in September 2000, 38 suicide bombings were carried out by 43 suicide terrorists). Despite the fact that suicide bombings constitute 0.6% of all attacks carried out against Israel since the beginning of the conflict, the number of fatalities in these attacks is around half of the total number of fatalities, making suicide bombings the most deadly attacks. From the beginning of the conflict up to August 2007, there have been 549 fatalities and 3717 casualties as a result of 155 suicide bombings. Over the years, suicide bombing terrorism has become the Palestinians’ leading weapon, while initially bearing an ideological nature in claiming legitimate opposition to the occupation.

10 Iyar 5781 April 22, 2021 Jeremy Burton, Executive Director Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston 126 High Street Boston, MA 02110 2833 Smith Ave Ste 225 Baltimore, MD 21209 Dear Mr. Burton, www.cjvalues.org We write concerning the investigation that the JCRC of Greater Boston has [email protected] conducted regarding Morton Klein and the Zionist Organization of America 301.727.2700 (ZOA). It is obvious at the outset that the JCRC strayed from its mission to represent the broader Jewish community—as acknowledged even by those Rabbi Pesach Lerner filing the complaint—by contemplating expulsion of a long-standing member President organization that clearly represents a vibrant and growing Jewish faction. Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld Vice-President But further, we have read the complaint, and are dismayed. The “charges” Rabbi Avrohom Gordimer against Mr. Klein repeatedly beg the question: they assume not only that a Chairman, Rabbinic Circle particular opinion is correct, but that any opposition is inherently motivated Rabbi Dov Fischer by hatred and bigotry. The complaint combines a demand for ideological Western Regional VP conformity with demonization in place of debate, besmirching the JCRC’s Rabbi Ze’ev Smason reputation as a democratic and deliberative body. Midwestern Regional VP For example, the complaint asserts that it is “bigoted” to describe Ilhan Omar Rabbi Moshe B. Parnes and Rashida Tlaib as hating Jews and supporting terror. It simply presumes Southern Regional VP that Mr. Klein’s objections are connected to their identity characteristics. Rabbi Steven Pruzansky Israel Regional VP This is absurd. David Duke does not back Ilhan Omar because of her identity, Rabbi Jonathan Guttentag but because he shares her hatred of Jews.
