    NEW TWO ALBUM SET DESERTSHORE / THE FINAL REPORT Industrial Records is proud to announce the much anticipated TWO album release DESERTSHORE / THE FINAL REPORT, a unique collaboration by Chris Carter, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson and Cosey Fanni Tutti, available from 26th November 2012. This is a two album release celebrating both the progress inherent in change and the fulfillment of two exceptional, yet separate projects. Desertshore The Desertshore project is a 're-imagined' cover version of Nico’s seminal 1970 album first conceived by the late Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson in Berlin 2006. In 2010 at his home in Bangkok, he refocussed his approach readying to record guest vocalists while Chris and Cosey prepared material in their UK studio for his return there in December. Sadly, Sleazy unexpectedly died in his sleep on the 25th November in Bangkok. Chris and Cosey made a commitment to Sleazy to complete the Desertshore project picking up from where they left off just prior to his untimely passing. With enthusiastic support and contributions from so many who were close to Sleazy, especially the guest artistes whose work he admired; Antony, Marc Almond, Blixa Bargeld, Sasha Grey and Gaspar Noé, the project is now complete. "a quite remarkable set of songs, a repurposing of Nico's maudlin, scraping sorrow into the deep mindmassaging electronics that characterised later live work by Throbbing Gristle, X-TG and Carter Tutti,arguably even Coil's Ape Of Naples."     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

    "Danger: Depressing": John Cale's Music for a New Society Domino Records liner notes, 2016 JOHN CALE'S Music for a New Society startled in 1982 and it startles in 2014. It was markedly at odds not only with the synthetic and formulaic pop-rock of its time but with the maverick exuberance of most of the other music on Michael Zilkha's ZE label. Kid Creole and 'Out Come The Freaks' this was not. Music for a New Society falls into a category of Harrowing Interior Journey that includes Big Star's Third, Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden and Scott Walker's Tilt, along with albums by fellow former members of the illustrious Velvet Underground: Nico's Desertshore, Lou Reed's Berlin. Even within Cale's oeuvre of that period it sticks out like a smashed thumb, separating as it does the dark paranoia of Honi Soit (1981) from the marginally friendlier settings of Caribbean Sunset (1984). By turns hummable and unbearable, it is a long-night-of- the-soul experiment in art-rock that's never less than captivating. "It was intended to be a proper solo album, which was something I'd never done," Cale told me when we discussed the record in early 1983. "Initially the idea was to stick me in the studio with a piano and have me just play the songs like that. There was a purist notion of what it was supposed to be, but it flowered into something entirely different, with a lot of overdubbings.

Fine points like that hardly matter though in the mad competition to hyperbolize the band’s genius. Witness another, even more resonant quote from that erudite musical philosopher Eno, though this one could be apocryphal (I’ve seen variations of it repeated dozens of times, but I’ve never found the original in any of his voluminous writings or interviews): “Only five thousand people ever bought a Velvet Underground album, but every single one of them started a band.” Mull that over for a second and you’ll realize that it’s pure hyperbole: All of those people can’t possibly have formed bands, because many of them clearly became rock critics!
