Introduction To. All International Dragon Boat Crew Members The Organizing Committee of the 7th Korea Open Busan International Dragon Boat Festival in conjunction with the Busan Metropolitan City, the second largest city in South Korea, cordially invite your team to participate in this festival which will be held from Wednesday the 30th of Aug to Sunday the 3rd of Sep 2017, at the beautiful Suyeong River, APEC Naru Park in Haeundae, Busan, South Korea. Ⅱ. Hosted by Busan Metropolitan City Office Haeundae District Office / Suyeong District Office, Busan Korean Dragon Boat Association / Sea Explorers of Korea Ⅲ. Competition Regulations and Rules of Racing A. Competition Regulations and Race Rules 1. The races will be run in accordance with the IDBF Competition Regulations & Rules of Racing with Specific KDBA Entry Rules. 2. There will be an exceptional Competition Regulations & Rules of Racing by Organizing Committee as their discretionary authority. 3. The detailed Racing Rules will be released on the separate attachment or to be announced during the team managers meeting. 4. All team members should be familiar with the Competition Regulations and Racing Rules. B. Team Manager 1. Each Team must have a Team Manager who in charge of all the administrative procedures. 2. Team Managers are required to understand and comply with all the Competition Regulations and Rules of Racing. 3. The team manager is the only person with the authority to protest and appeal. C. Equipment Details 1. Dragon Boat – Small Boat (IDBF Champion DB 912 Model) Standard Boat (IDBF Champion DB 1222 Model) 2. Paddles - Any type of IDBF recognized paddle. Competitors may use their own paddles, provided that they comply with IDBF specification. If you don’t have your own paddle, a wooden paddle will be provided by Organizing Committee at the race site. D. Team Composition 1. Member of Boat a) Small Boat (DB12) – 10 Paddlers, 1 Steerer, 1 Drummer, 2 Reserves b) Standard Boat (DB22) – 20 Paddlers, 1 Steerer, 1 Drummer, 4 Reserves *minimum 18 Paddlers, 1 Steerer, 1 Drummer 2. Restriction of Composition a) Open : no restrictions on Gender, Age b) Women : no restrictions for Steerers, Drummers and Paddlers women only c) Mixed : standard boat(min8, max12 women)/small boat(min4, max6 women) Ⅴ. Team Composition - 1 team consists of 2 members. 3. Type of Boat - 2-seated, sit-on kayak 4. Race Division – Premier Mixed, 200M Straight Course 5. Awards – 1st to 5th place will receive Prizes. Ⅵ. Prizes The Trophy and Medals will be awarded to 1st Place to 3rd Place * Small Boat - 1 Trophy and 14 Medals for each team * Standard Boat - 1 Trophy and 26 Medals for each team Ⅶ. Entry A. Entry Condition 1. All teams are required endorsement from the IDBF recognized Organization of their Country. Endorsements must be signed by the President of the IDBF recognized Association/Federation of their Country or from our coordinator in each country. 3. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Organizing Committee. 4. Insurance All teams are required to have Accidental Insurance. The competition is insured by Organizing Committee separately. 5. Visa If you require any assistance in Visa application after you submit the participants list, please contact the Organizing Committee. B. Entry Fee 40 USD per person C.     Brief Prologue "Ahh!" Pyrothraxus cried. "Get it off! Get it off!" The ent latched onto his ear frill tightly, grinding his splintery teeth against the membrane. He pulled down upon Pyrothraxus, bending the Red Dragon's neck awkwardly. Though the ent was as tall as Pyrothraxus' shoulder, Pyrothraxus still had another 40 feet to his neck. With one snap of the ent's shoulders, Pyrothraxus came toppling down onto his side. "Give it back to me!" the ent bellowed. "Give it back now!" "What?" Pyrothraxus asked. "Give what back?" The ent pulled harder, wrapping his arms around Pyrothraxus' neck and holding him tightly in a lock. The Red Dragon struggled under the great strength of the tree ent's branch-like arms. "Aiyah, Jonathan!" called Lao Shi from the pavement. "Just give whatever it is he wants back to him." "I don't know what it is he wants," Pyrothraxus growled back, trying to pull himself away from the vice-like grip of the ent's arms. "You're the dragon who stole it!" the ent shouted. "Stole what?" Pyrothraxus asked. The ent let loose a hollow bellow and flipped Pyrothraxus over onto his back. Cars parked in the street were suddenly tossed into the air by the Red Dragon's thrashing tail. Pyrothraxus gripped his claws into the pavement, sending the tar cracking and splintering across the surface. "Give it back!" the ent bellowed, tightening his grip around the dragon's neck. "That's it, I'm getting tired of guessing games, here," Pyrothraxus growled, black smoke slowly rising up from his nostrils.

As a paddy-rice agricultural state of Southeast Asia, Vietnam has localized Confucianism and absorbed it into Southeast Asian culture. Therefore, Vietnamese Confucianism has been decentralized and horizontalized after being introduced and accepted. Beside the local uniqueness of Shintoism, Japan has shared Confucianism, the Indian-originated Mahayana Buddhism and other East Asian philosophies; therefore, both Confucian and Buddhist philosophies should be wisely laid as a common channel for cultural exchange between Japan and Vietnam. This semiotic research aims to investigate and generalize the symbol of dragons in Vietnam and Japan, looking at their Confucian and Buddhist absorption and separate impacts in each culture, from which the common and different values through the symbolic significances of the dragons are obviously generalized. The comparative study of Vietnamese and Japanese dragons can be enlarged as a study of East Asian dragons and the Southeast Asian legendary naga snake/dragon in a broader sense. The current and future political, economic and cultural exchanges between Japan and Vietnam could be sped up by applying a starting point at these commonalities.

    Taiwanese Philosophy and the Preservation of Confucian Tradition International Conference 17-18 October 2019 Chamber Hall of the University of Ljubljana Organized by: University of LjubljanaġİġEARL Ljubljana and Department of Asian Studies Center for Chinese Studies and National Central Library in Taiwan Taiwanese Philosophy and the Preservation of Confucian Tradition International Conference Statement of Purpose Although the philosophical currents in modern and contemporary Taiwan belong to the most influential and important streams of thought in contemporary East Asian theory, they are still unrecognized as specifically Taiwanese. The main reasons for the immense importance of Taiwanese philosophy for East Asia and the contemporary world are twofold. First, they can be found in its contributions to the preservation of traditional Chinese, especially Confucian thought. Secondly, its development of specific innovative philosophical approaches and systems profoundly influenced the theoretical discourses in the entire East Asian region. The philosophical currents in modern Taiwan were mainly developed during the second half of 20th century, in which the philosophical theory in mainland China was largely limited to the Sinization of Marxist thought. Hence, for many decades, Taiwanese philosophy represented the only driving force of developing, modernizing and upgrading traditional Chinese thought and its syntheses with Western thought. Hence, they soon also gained a wide spread popularity in most of the other East Asian societies that were traditionally influenced by classical Confucian thought, as for example Japan and South Korea. But in terms of the application, China often lags behind South Korea. In 2005, the Korean Dragon Boat Festival was successfully applied; after the failure of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, it took lessons and finally succeeded in the application in 2009. Next, in 2009, "Dong Yi Bao Jian" (Korean: 동의보감) was successful in the application of the book; followed by Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion, the successful application in 2010. In 2013, South Korea made a successful application for wintering kimchi culture; in contrast to Chinese food, it failed two times, and it has not been successful yet. The cultural foundation of these projects in South Korea originated from China. In the process of applying for the legacy, it has formed a strong competition for China, which has made China's declaration and protection of world cultural heritage more challenging than ever. In addition to strong measures, South Korea has succeeded in Koreanizing Chinese heritage and has been recognized by international agencies. Taking Changdeokgung Palace as an example, this paper studies how to ignore the Chinese elements of Korean cultural heritage and build its "independence", and hopes to provide important inspiration for the declaration and protection of China's future cultural heritage.

A call center is nothing but a voice-based customer service. Call center is defined as any communications platform from which firms deliver services to customers via remote real-time contact. From the recent past, call centers have started performing a number of activities including e-mail response and customer interaction services. A call center provides all these services to the local as well as the international customers through a wide telecom, web and database network (Ghazi, 2006). Human resources play a vital role in the successful functioning of these organizations. Their prime duty is to provide the customers with the needed information. So organizations recruit them with great care and spend a lot in training them also. But the news in the magazines and newspapers depict that the call center employees are facing a lot of problems like excessive workload, unreachable targets, and pressurizing and abusive customers. Above all, continuous night shifts create biological imbalance in them and finally makes them stressful. So stress is an important problem encountered by the call center employees. In a study on work related problems across 26 occupations, six occupations were identified as having worse than average scores on three factors namely physical and psychological well being and job satisfaction. The occupations include ambulance workers, teachers, social services, customer services- call centers, prison officers and police. The respondents of these occupations were having low levels of job satisfaction and most stressed regarding physical and psychological well being (Sheena, 2005).

The editor-in-chief actively encourages younger, not yet well established, scholars and independent authors to submit manuscripts for consideration. Contributions in any of the major scholarly languages of the world, including romanized modern standard Mandarin (MSM) and Japanese, are acceptable. In special circumstances, papers written in one of the Sinitic topolects (fangyan) may be considered for publication. Although the chief focus of Sino-Platonic Papers is on the intercultural relations of China with other peoples, challenging and creative studies on a wide variety of philological subjects will be entertained. This series is not the place for safe, sober, and stodgy presentations. Sino- Platonic Papers prefers lively work that, while taking reasonable risks to advance the field, capitalizes on brilliant new insights into the development of civilization. Submissions are regularly sent out to be refereed, and extensive editorial suggestions for revision may be offered. Sino-Platonic Papers emphasizes substance over form.

    Whispering Woods Basic Dragon Lore course Greetings and welcome to our Basic Dragon Lore course. In this course we will be looking at all aspects of Dragons. Not only their magickal uses but the various histories and beliefs of different cultures as well. For if one is to work with Dragons, and then a full knowledge of these wonderful creatures is a must. Dragons can be difficult to work with, but with a deep understanding of their lore and their ways we can reach a level of fulfillment and cooperation with these magickal creatures. Nine Dragon Wall A very popular tourist site in Beijing is this Nine­Dragon Wall in BeiHai Park. After hundreds of years, the colors of the ceramic tiles are just as brilliant. The wall was built in 1756. It is 21m long, about 15m high and 2m thick. It is faced with 424 7­color ceramic tiles. At the center of the wall, there is a giant dragon, flanged by four dragons on each side. In addition to these nine large dragons, the wall is covered from edge to edge with many smaller dragons. In all, there are 635 dragons. [email protected] Abstract The concept of the Dragon is amalgamation of early tribes from the period of pre – historic era Ain the Chinese social structure. He is a proto - totemic beast later rise into a Dragon which we find each parts of his composition as a sacred body, meaning is attached denoting one of his qualities. In modern complex societies, with the specific interaction potentially drawn from different backgrounds, the distribution of cultural practices and knowledge of their meaning can become extremely complex. There cannot be making simple any local system or any patterns of interactions. The local social system or homogeneous has the highest degree of shared cultural practices. Cultural practices are those meaningful which forge and continue ongoing histories of social cultural coupling. The literature review on the Chinese cultural Dragon denotes that the geographical and social – cultural boundaries have been discrete and made relations with the different tribes and nations.
