The route starts from Ouarzazate, a city nestled in the Draà valley, the gateway to the Sahara desert, also famous for the presence of important film studios where Hollywood colossals were shot. Page 2/9 MOTORCYCLE TOUR - Morocco - From Atlas to dunes Upon arrival, its atmosphere will envelop us with the color of its houses, which blend between ancient palaces and fortresses, where the colorful merchandise displayed in the shops of lively vendors will stand out. From here we will reach Boulmane Dades, at the entrance of the homonymous Gorges, passing through the Kasbah of Amridil in Skoura. We will then proceed through the gorges of Dades and Todra. We will go along fantastic off-road tracks accompanied by the spectacle of the deep canyons and rocky landscapes of the High Atlas mountains. From the Atlas mountains, heading south, we will arrive in Merzouga at the gateway to the Sahara desert through dirt and sandy tracks. Here you will have the opportunity to take excursions on the dunes with dromedaries, buggies or quads and enjoy a tea at sunset. Leaving our hearts on the dunes of Merzouga we will arrive in Zagora and the following day at the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, symbol of traditional Moroccan architecture. The village is surrounded by walls and is located on the ancient caravan route that connected the Sahara to Marrakech, the destination of our last stop on the tour. Marrakech and its beautiful Jamaa el Fna square, its outdoor restaurants, jugglers, fire eaters, the Souk, the Hammām, the Mosques will make us hope that the journey can be extended even more, or repeat soon! Possibility to participate in the tour also with a passenger (only for experienced riders). PROGRAM Day 1:Arrival by plane to Ouarzazate. Short transfer and overnight at the hotel. Free dinner. Day 2:After a hearty breakfast, pick up the bikes with a short driving course. We will dive into an ancient Morocco, small villages of other times will accompany us all the way. We will visit the Kasbah of Skoura, one of the most famous and realistic of Morocco, represented for decades on a banknote. We will continue through valleys and villages stopped in time, along the 1000 kasbah road, so named for the numerous castles of red earth that emerge between the palm trees. Dinner and overnight at the 4-star hotel Xaluca Dades which is located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. The hotel offers relaxation facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub and a hammam spa. The rooms have exposed stone walls and modern Moroccan furnishings. Day 3:Today we will face the tour of the Dades and Todra Gorges, rock walls that create spectacular canyons, covering roads and tracks that climb well over 2000 meters. The views, sensations, colors and scents will be our unforgettable travel companions. Arrival in Goulmima in the evening, dinner and overnight stay in a fantastic Riad. Page 3/9 MOTORCYCLE TOUR - Morocco - From Atlas to dunes Day 4:We will travel south-east along roads and tracks to reach Erfoud, an intense city at the gates of the desert. We will feel like the protagonists of Marrakech Express ... But a little less naive! Along the way we will stop to visit the fantastic sculptures of the Stars, the Berber aqueduct and the film set of the Film the Mummy. Dinner and overnight at the 4-star Hotel Xaluca Erfoud which boasts 2 swimming pools and a wellness center with hammam and massage rooms. Day 5:Today we will come to discover the wonder of Erg Chebbi and the oasis of Merzouga. The dunes can reach a height of 150 meters and change color during the day from pink to gold to red. Here you can experience all the sensations and emotions that the desert can give ... silence, infinity and, at night, a sky full of stars. There will be the possibility, for those who wish, to make excursions in dromedary or quad. Dinner and overnight stay in a tented camp. Day 6:The morning will continue in off-road along the tracks protagonists of international Rally Raid. In the afternoon we will take a scenic road that winds through the mountains dotted with mines that will take us to Zagora, a Berber city in the Draa Valley. Not many decades have passed since Zagorà was the first stop of the ancient caravan route that brought goods and animals to Timbuktu. Dinner and overnight stay in a 3/4 star hotel. Day 7:Transfer by asphalt along the entire Valle del Draà to Ouarzazate. Do not miss the panoramic stops on those that were waterfalls formed millions of years ago. We will then continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified city that is a UNESCO heritage site that has been the backdrop for numerous film colossal, from Lawrence D'Arabia to Gladiator. Dinner and overnight stay in a beautiful Kasbah overlooking the Ksar. Day 8:Today we will face the road that goes up to Tizi n'Tchika, an incredible step at 2260 meters, along one of the most beautiful roads in the world, and then dive towards Marrakech. The city is the second largest in Morocco and is also known as the Red City due to the color of its walls and buildings. Its position at the foot of the Atlas gives it a wonderful climate. We will go to the discovery of the labyrinth of souks with its characteristic shops where to shop ... remember to always negotiate the price !!! At sunset, don't miss a cup of tea on one of the café terraces of Djemaa El Fna Square from where you can admire the stalls selling food. Return of motorcycles. Dinner and overnight stay in a 3/4 star hotel. Day 9: Breakfast, transfer to the airport and return flight. Possible extensions to the program may be agreed. The bike rental prices include costs for public-liability insurance and roadside assistance insurance in case of breakdown. All lunches (could be packed or in local restaurants). All the room nights in double with half board as the program. All soft drinks. Transfer to and from the airport. Tour leader. 4x4 support for assistance. Luggage transport. Insurance covering most any medical issue during the trip including, doctors, ambulance, hospital and any appropriate family travel. IS NOT INCLUDED: Fuel for the rental vehicle. Today, the vast majority of this research is being generated outside of Morocco, and not only in Europe, at such a rate that it is difficult in practical terms to keep up with all the new developments in terms of concepts and issues. When looking at the structure of this research, it must be stressed that foreign Universities play the key role. The university thesis, presented in Europe or Morocco, but chiefly prepared by Moroccan researchers, was the main driving force, but today the baton has been passed on to research teams, with international backing and foreign researchers. In order to establish a database of research into international migration around Morocco, we looked at its three characteristic present-day forms. Firstly, there is international migration from Morocco, whose effects are felt outside the country, and which is the best studied and the best understood. Then there is international migration into Morocco, which can take three different forms: returning migration by Moroccans, migration by Sub-Saharan Africans who stop here en route to Europe, and also a new type of north-south migration which leads increasing numbers of Europeans to settle in Morocco.

    Birdwatching Spain http://birdwatchingspain.net/ Morocco: Atlas Mountains & Edge of the Sahara Deserts: February 26-March 5th 2022 Itinerary Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Oukaimeden Meet and welcome you at Marrakech airport or hotel in Marrakech, we will drive up into the High Atlas Mountains and visit Oukaimeden (2600m). As we drive along the cultivated fields, we should find a good mix of resident species such as Southern Grey Shrike, Little Owl, Sardinian Warbler, Spotless Starling, Moroccan Magpie, Moussier's Redstart and House Bunting. Slightly higher up, among the rocky slopes, we will search for Blue Rock Thrush and the endemic Levaillant's Green Woodpecker. When we reach the ski resort at Oukaimeden, we will check the snowline for the handsome African Crimson-winged Finch. Other species here include Rock Sparrow, Alpine Chough, Black Wheatear and Atlas Horned Lark. Dinner and accommodation at the Atlas Mountains. Day 2: High Atlas Mountains - Ouarzazate - Boumalne du Dades After an early breakfast we leave the mountains behind, perhaps pausing again en route for Levaillant's Green Woodpecker. From the flat plains of Marrakech we turn back uphill, and drive to Boumalne du Dades via the Tizi-n- Tichka pass (2260 meters), a spectacular and long drive. As the road climbs into the hills, we may start to see some raptors such as Long-legged Buzzard and Bonelli's Eagle both possible. Before reaching Boumalne du Dades we'll stop in Amerzgane to look for the rare Wheatear "Maghreb Wheatear". Here we should see White-crowned Whetear and Black Wheatear too. The Operational Policies and Guidelines (OPG) for Parties to Access Resources from the Adaptation Fund (the Fund), adopted by the Adaptation Fund Board (the Board), state in paragraph 45 that regular adaptation project and programme proposals, i.e. those that request funding exceeding US$ 1 million, would undergo either a one-step, or a two-step approval process. In case of the one-step process, the proponent would directly submit a fully-developed project proposal. In the two-step process, the proponent would first submit a brief project concept, which would be reviewed by the Project and Programme Review Committee (PPRC) and would have to receive the endorsement of the Board.     Touristification of the Moroccan oasis landscape: new dimensions, new approaches, new stakeholders and new consumer formulas Andreas Kagermeier (Trier University), Lahoucine Amzil (Rabat) & Brahim Elfasskoui (Meknès) Summary: The Moroccan southeast, with its river water oases, has been utilised for tourism purposes since the coun- try’s “pacification”, which took place in the 1930s. The “Road of the Kasbahs” marketing campaign refers to parts of the river water oasis of the Oued Todra and the Oued Dadès, as well as of the Oued Drâa. Until the end of the 20th century, a form of culturally oriented round-trip tourism was practised with a fair amount of success. However, the practice of tourism in the river water oasis of southeast Morocco has been changing over the past 20 years. One prerequisite that allowed tourism to penetrate into more far-flung areas of the Moroccan river water oa- sis is the “asphaltification” of many former gravel roads and paths over the past 20 years – especially along the rivers and valleys in the Moroccan southeast. As a result, many previously more or less inaccessible valleys, with their river oases, became open to tourism. Besides this almost tangible spatial extension and quantitative growth following infrastructural circumstances, some additional, more fundamental changes can be observed in the touristification process of Moroccan river water oasis areas. This article focuses on the different aspects of these new phenomena. It is based on preliminary findings from a fact-finding mission in the Drâa-Tafilalet in spring 2017 as well as on previous empirical work in the region performed by the authors.
