Morocco: Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert
Birdwatching Spain http://birdwatchingspain.net/ Morocco: Atlas Mountains & Edge of the Sahara Deserts: February 26-March 5th 2022 Itinerary Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Oukaimeden Meet and welcome you at Marrakech airport or hotel in Marrakech, we will drive up into the High Atlas Mountains and visit Oukaimeden (2600m). As we drive along the cultivated fields, we should find a good mix of resident species such as Southern Grey Shrike, Little Owl, Sardinian Warbler, Spotless Starling, Moroccan Magpie, Moussier's Redstart and House Bunting. Slightly higher up, among the rocky slopes, we will search for Blue Rock Thrush and the endemic Levaillant's Green Woodpecker. When we reach the ski resort at Oukaimeden, we will check the snowline for the handsome African Crimson-winged Finch. Other species here include Rock Sparrow, Alpine Chough, Black Wheatear and Atlas Horned Lark. Dinner and accommodation at the Atlas Mountains. Day 2: High Atlas Mountains - Ouarzazate - Boumalne du Dades After an early breakfast we leave the mountains behind, perhaps pausing again en route for Levaillant's Green Woodpecker. From the flat plains of Marrakech we turn back uphill, and drive to Boumalne du Dades via the Tizi-n- Tichka pass (2260 meters), a spectacular and long drive. As the road climbs into the hills, we may start to see some raptors such as Long-legged Buzzard and Bonelli's Eagle both possible. Before reaching Boumalne du Dades we'll stop in Amerzgane to look for the rare Wheatear "Maghreb Wheatear". Here we should see White-crowned Whetear and Black Wheatear too. Dinner and accommodation in Boumalne du Dades. -

MOROCCO: SOUK TO SOUK (south to north) Bicycle Africa © 2015 (subject to change) Program: Bicycle tour, self-contained, small group, visiting the people of the diverse cultures of central Morocco. Cycling Conditions: 750 km, 480 miles, paved roads, a couple mountainous sections. Weather conditions: Highs in the 70's and 80's, lows in the 40's, chance of rain. DAY 01 MARRAKECH. (elev. 460) Arrive in the afternoon and check-in to the hotel. Program options: Start with a Moroccan Dinner & evening exploration of Marrakesh medina. DAY 02 MARRAKECH. The second oldest Imperial city, known as the pearl of the south. The city was founded by the Almoravides at the end of the 11 th century. Points of interest: the Menara Garden , the Saadian Tombs, el Badi Palace, el Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Minara and the dar Sidi Saîd Museum, the souks and Djamaa el Fna with its non stop entertainment. DAY 03 Marrakech to TIZI N’TICHKA (elev. 2210m) (110km by transport) to OUARZAZATE (elev. 1120m) (90km) Long descent with an average slope of 2%. Points of interests: Ait Ben Haddou (improbably, 10km off the road) DAY 04 Ouarzazate to KALAAT M'GOUNA (elev. 1470m) (100km) Long ascent with slopes under 2%. Points of interests: Taourirt Kasbah (former residence of the Glaoui (pasha)), former base of French Foreign Legion. DAY 05 Kalaat M'Gouna to TINGHIR (elev. 1310m) (75km) Climb for 25km and descend 300m over 50km. Oasis. Points of interest: road of the thousand Kasbahs, the Dades Gorge (R704) and river (famous for its roses) and Todra Gorge (R703). -

AFB/PPRC.16/12 19 March 2015 Adaptation Fund Board Project and Programme Review Committee Sixteenth Meeting Bonn, Germany, 7-8 April 2015 Agenda Item 6 h) PROPOSAL FOR MOROCCO AFB/PPRC.16/12 Background 1. The Operational Policies and Guidelines (OPG) for Parties to Access Resources from the Adaptation Fund (the Fund), adopted by the Adaptation Fund Board (the Board), state in paragraph 45 that regular adaptation project and programme proposals, i.e. those that request funding exceeding US$ 1 million, would undergo either a one-step, or a two-step approval process. In case of the one-step process, the proponent would directly submit a fully-developed project proposal. In the two-step process, the proponent would first submit a brief project concept, which would be reviewed by the Project and Programme Review Committee (PPRC) and would have to receive the endorsement of the Board. In the second step, the fully- developed project/programme document would be reviewed by the PPRC, and would ultimately require the Board’s approval. 2. The Templates approved by the Board (OPG, Annex 4) do not include a separate template for project and programme concepts but provide that these are to be submitted using the project and programme proposal template. The section on Adaptation Fund Project Review Criteria states: For regular projects using the two-step approval process, only the first four criteria will be applied when reviewing the 1st step for regular project concept. In addition, the information provided in the 1st step approval process with respect to the review criteria for the regular project concept could be less detailed than the information in the request for approval template submitted at the 2nd step approval process. -

Il meublait jadis la vie des Iqbliyens dans toutes les cérémonies à l’intérieur des ksours est actuellement menacé de disparition. Les facteurs ayant conduit l’Ahidous Bahbi au déclin sont multiples. Mais l’espoir pour le préserver renait. Les jeunes iqbliyens ont un regain de conscience quant à l’importance de l’Ahidous Bahbi dans leur identité. Aussi, Bahbi refait surface sur la scène artistique locale ainsi que sur les réseaux sociaux Facebook et YouTube grâce à plusieurs initiatives louables.
