Lila Iké | Biography Lila Ike (Pronounced Lee-Lah Eye-Kay) Is on the Brink of Stardom. the 26-Year-Old Jamaican Songbird
Lila Iké | Biography Lila Ike (pronounced Lee-lah Eye-kay) is on the brink of stardom. The 26-year-old Jamaican songbird has an edge and ease in her voice that creates an immediate gravitational pull with her listener, fusing contemporary reggae with elements of soul, hip-hop and dancehall. The free-spirited, easy-going singer has already released a handful of velvety smooth songs through In.Digg.Nation Collective, a record label and talent pool for Jamaican creatives, founded by reggae star Protoje. The ExPerience will be Lila Iké’s debut EP for Six Course/RCA Records in a new partnership with In.Digg.Nation Collective. She breathes a delicate testimony of love, infatuation, and spiritual guidance in the 7-track release out this Spring. The EP is padded with previously-released songs such as “Where I’m Coming From” and “Second Chance.” Pivoting from the singles that earned her international acclaim in 2018 and 2019, Lila Iké unveils playful seduction on “I Spy,” her first release of 2020 produced by Izy Beats (the hitmaker behind Koffee’s “Toast”). Beckoning with innocent flirtation over soft guitar licks, Lila in a sweet falsetto sings, “I spy I spy, that you see something you might like. Won’t you come over if you really mean it.” The layers to Lila are in full bloom as she opens up about the daily pressures she faces through her interaction with people and wanting peace of mind in “Solitude” — . On “Stars Align,” Lila flips the instrumental from Protoje’s “Bout Noon” into an anthem about falling in love through the metaphor of making music. -

Jah Free 2016
JAH FREE 2016 THE DUB ACTIVIST The unique sounds of JAH FREE MUSIC seems to have no boundaries, he really can’t contain or control the movement of his music or where it will take him next. The people really do have the power and it is their love, vibes and support which keeps Jah Free Music very much alive and well today. The man himself never having had a plan, tries to take a natural musical path of progression, following the vibes and trying to always stand for the positive, his most important aim is to bring a ‘one love’ message in his musical works and live shows for anyone who cares to listen. Jah Free has been involved in the UK, European and now global reggae music scene for some 35 years with Roots, Dub, Digital productions and remixes. He first started out playing keys, percussion and singing in his band Tallowah back in the late to early 70s/80s, the band was formed by himself and his musically talented friends. The band’s name was later to become “Bushfire”, remembered by most as a highly successful UK Roots band for its time. Even now people mention those times and the live shows they enjoyed. Bushfire were asked to perform outside of the UK in Europe at festivals notably taking its own Wango Riley Stage on the road with its own mixing desk and P.A included, this being where Jah Free first learnt his many skills in live mixing. Worth mentioning that the Wango Rileys stage went on to become a very well known stage on the festival circuit over its many years, but sadly burnt down in the 90s. -

The Clash and Mass Media Messages from the Only Band That Matters
THE CLASH AND MASS MEDIA MESSAGES FROM THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS Sean Xavier Ahern A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS August 2012 Committee: Jeremy Wallach, Advisor Kristen Rudisill © 2012 Sean Xavier Ahern All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Jeremy Wallach, Advisor This thesis analyzes the music of the British punk rock band The Clash through the use of media imagery in popular music in an effort to inform listeners of contemporary news items. I propose to look at the punk rock band The Clash not solely as a first wave English punk rock band but rather as a “news-giving” group as presented during their interview on the Tom Snyder show in 1981. I argue that the band’s use of communication metaphors and imagery in their songs and album art helped to communicate with their audience in a way that their contemporaries were unable to. Broken down into four chapters, I look at each of the major releases by the band in chronological order as they progressed from a London punk band to a globally known popular rock act. Viewing The Clash as a “news giving” punk rock band that inundated their lyrics, music videos and live performances with communication images, The Clash used their position as a popular act to inform their audience, asking them to question their surroundings and “know your rights.” iv For Pat and Zach Ahern Go Easy, Step Lightly, Stay Free. v ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This thesis would not have been possible without the help of many, many people. -
O Álbum Sandinista!: Agenciamentos E Fronteiras Musicais Do Grupo the Clash1
No álbum Sandinista! Palavras-chave: Sandinista!; The Clash; experimentalismo; hibridismo; punk. -
