Discover the House of one of the masters of impressionism Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) at Essoyes in Champagne, the Village of Renoir. Visitors will be first welcomed at the Renoir Cultural Centre with a screening of a film and with the discovery of a permanent exhibition on the Renoir family and how the painter was passionate about the small birthplace of Aline his wife where he spent almost 30 summers. With the "Renoir trail", in the heart of the village, visitors will follow in the footsteps of Renoir to discover the village. They will discover the privacy of the House of Renoir and the creativity in the Studio of Renoir, both labeled Maison des Illustres. To conclude the Renoir trail, a visit to the family graves at the cemetery is essential. Indeed, Pierre-Auguste Renoir loved this village so much that the painter, his wife Aline, and their three sons, Pierre the actor, Jean the filmmaker and Claude aka "Coco" the ceramist are all buried there.
