Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street- Walk of Fame Additional Name in Terrazzo Sidewalk­

RECOMMENDATIONS:

A That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square northerly of and between numbered locations 12H and 13h as shown on Sheet 16 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Marg Helgenberger at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ofthe Council's action on this matter,

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on January 23, 2011.

FISCAL IMP ACT STATEMENT:

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for inse1tion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name ofMarg Helgenberger, The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2011 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23.

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has approved the below listed name for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame:

MARG HELGENBERGER (Category-TELEVISION)· Requested star location to be 6667 Hollywood Blvd. north side of the street, in front of Musso & Frank Restaurant. The star for MARG HELGENBERGER will be situated in the second row next to the star of Peter Graves in the second row, closest to the building. star will be near the stars of FREDDIE BARTHOLOMEW (12H) to the west and WILLIAM DEMEREST which is numbered (13h) to the east. Both stars are in the original row. According to sheet# 16 plan 13788, MARG HELGENBERGER's star has no designated number. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.

Discussed began by Greg Ashlock regarding looking for more national radio personalities. He approached Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern and both declined to be considered at this time.

Discussion was held regarding terms of committee members. Mitch felt that the tlu:ce positions tl1at \Veteto be termed out in TV, Radio and Recording stili had one more year to go. Leron Gubler n1cntioned that this would be discussed with Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Chairman Marty Shelton in an upcoming meeting.

Emmy Award-winner and Golden Globe nominee Marg Helgenberger is currently starring in the twelfth season of the CBS drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for which she has earned two Emmy nominations. The critically acclaimed show airs Thursday nights at 9:00PM on CBS and is executive produced by " Her character, is a single mother working as a crime scene analyst on the graveyard shift in Las Vegas.

Marg was seen starring alongside in MGM's psychological thriller Mr. Brooks, about a man who occasionally falls under the spell of his murderous alter-ego. She costarred with in the Universal hit drama, ERIN BROCKOVICH, as a woman dying of cancer due to a contaminated water source. Marg also starred as Patsy Ramsey in the highly rated CBS miniseries, PERFECT 'MURDER, PERFECT TOWN based on the best selling book about the unsolved murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

Helgenberger appeared in two original telepictures for Showtime. In the controversial THANKS OF A GRATEFUL NATION, she played the sister of a man () who suffers a terminal brain tumor after returning from the Gulf War. She then co-starred with Ann-Margret in the HAPPY FACE MURDERS as a detective investigating a very 1msettling and confusing case of murder.

Her breakout role as K.C. on , won her an Emmy Award in 1990. In 1997, she guest starred on a four-episode arc on ER playing 's love interest. Her other television credits include MURDER LIVE with David Morse and Teri Garr, Stephen King's highly-rated miniseries THE TOMMYKNOCKERS, a Tom Hanks directed episode ofShowtime's FALLEN ANGELS, and the Oscar nominated short film, PARTNERS, directed by as well as THE GOLD COAST, starring opposite .

On the feature film side, Helgenberger starred in SPECIES, opposite Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen and Forest Whitaker and in SPECIES H. Other film credits include, IN GOOD COMPANY, starring alongside and Scarlett Johansson, FIRE DOWN BELOW with , THE LAST TIME I COMMITTED SUICIDE with , MY FELLOW AMERICANS with Jack Lemmon and James Garner, COWBOY WAY with , BAD BOYS with and Martin Lawrence, ALWAYS with and and CROOKED HEARTS with Peter Berg and Noah Wyle.

Growing up in North Bend, Nebraska, Helgenberger acted in school plays, but it was not until she attended that she thought of acting as a career. While there she appeared on stage as Kate in TAMING OF THE SHREW and as Blanche in , to name a few. After graduating college she was cast on the ABC-TV daytime drama RYAN'S HOPK While in she also did work with the Children's Theatre Company, TADA.

Helgenberger lives in Los Angeles.
