Leron Gubler n1cntioned that this would be discussed with Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Chairman Marty Shelton in an upcoming meeting. *Tabled by Chairman's privilege for further discussion with Walk of Fame selection committee members MARG HELGENBERGER Emmy Award-winner and Golden Globe nominee Marg Helgenberger is currently starring in the twelfth season of the CBS drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for which she has earned two Emmy nominations. The critically acclaimed show airs Thursday nights at 9:00PM on CBS and is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer" Her character, Catherine Willows is a single mother working as a crime scene analyst on the graveyard shift in Las Vegas. Marg was seen starring alongside Kevin Costner in MGM's psychological thriller Mr. Brooks, about a man who occasionally falls under the spell of his murderous alter-ego. She costarred with Julia Roberts in the Universal hit drama, ERIN BROCKOVICH, as a woman dying of cancer due to a contaminated water source. Marg also starred as Patsy Ramsey in the highly rated CBS miniseries, PERFECT 'MURDER, PERFECT TOWN based on the best selling book about the unsolved murder of JonBenet Ramsey. Helgenberger appeared in two original telepictures for Showtime. In the controversial THANKS OF A GRATEFUL NATION, she played the sister of a man (Steven Weber) who suffers a terminal brain tumor after returning from the Gulf War. She then co-starred with Ann-Margret in the HAPPY FACE MURDERS as a detective investigating a very 1msettling and confusing case of murder. Her breakout role as K.C. on CHINA BEACH, won her an Emmy Award in 1990. In 1997, she guest starred on a four-episode arc on ER playing George Clooney's love interest. Her other television credits include MURDER LIVE with David Morse and Teri Garr, Stephen King's highly-rated miniseries THE TOMMYKNOCKERS, a Tom Hanks directed episode ofShowtime's FALLEN ANGELS, and the Oscar nominated short film, PARTNERS, directed by Peter Weller as well as THE GOLD COAST, starring opposite David Caruso. On the feature film side, Helgenberger starred in SPECIES, opposite Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen and Forest Whitaker and in SPECIES H.     Jessica Lange Regis Dialogue with Molly Haskell, 1997 Bruce Jenkins: Let me say that these dialogues have for the better part of this decade focused on that part of cinema devoted to narrative or dramatic filmmaking, and we've had evenings with actors, directors, cinematographers, and I would say really especially with those performers that we identify with the cutting edge of narrative filmmaking. In describing tonight's guest, Molly Haskell spoke of a creative artist who not only did a sizeable number of important projects but more importantly, did the projects that she herself wanted to see made. The same I think can be said about Molly Haskell. She began in the 1960s working in New York for the French Film Office at that point where the French New Wave needed a promoter and a writer and a translator. She eventually wrote the landmark book From Reverence to Rape on women in cinema from 1973 and republished in 1987, and did sizable stints as the film reviewer for Vogue magazine, The Village Voice, New York magazine, New York Observer, and more recently, for On the Issues. Her most recent book, Holding My Own in No Man's Land, contains her last two decades' worth of writing. I'm please to say it's in the Walker bookstore, as well. Our other guest tonight needs no introduction here in the Twin Cities nor in Cloquet, Minnesota, nor would I say anyplace in the world that motion pictures are watched and cherished. She's an internationally recognized star, but she's really a unique star.

    Unbelievable Bodies: Audience Readings of Action Heroines as a Post-Feminist Visual Metaphor Jennifer McClearen A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts University of Washington 2013 Committee: Ralina Joseph, Chair LeiLani Nishime Program Authorized to Offer Degree: Communication ©Copyright 2013 Jennifer McClearen Running head: AUDIENCE READINGS OF ACTION HEROINES University of Washington Abstract Unbelievable Bodies: Audience Readings of Action Heroines as a Post-Feminist Visual Metaphor Jennifer McClearen Chair of Supervisory Committee: Associate Professor Ralina Joseph Department of Communication In this paper, I employ a feminist approach to audience research and examine the individual interviews of 11 undergraduate women who regularly watch and enjoy action heroine films. Participants in the study articulate action heroines as visual metaphors for career and academic success and take pleasure in seeing women succeed against adversity. However, they are reluctant to believe that the female bodies onscreen are physically capable of the action they perform when compared with male counterparts—a belief based on post-feminist assumptions of the limits of female physical abilities and the persistent representations of thin action heroines in film. I argue that post-feminist ideology encourages women to imagine action heroines as successful in intellectual arenas; yet, the ideology simultaneously disciplines action heroine bodies to render them unbelievable as physically powerful women.

    February 8, 2021 Dear President Biden and Vice President Harris, Thank you for your administration’s early focus on climate change, tribal sovereignty, and racial justice and equity, including your decision to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. We are also grateful for your critical efforts to save lives and address the COVID-19 pandemic that is disproportionately impacting BIPOC communities across our country. As your Administration takes action to address the climate crisis and strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities, we respectfully urge you to reverse another harmful Trump Administration decision and immediately shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) during its court-ordered environmental review. In 2016, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe became the epicenter of a global climate justice movement to stop the illegal construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The pipeline had originally been slated to cross the Missouri River north of Bismarck, ND, yet the risk of an oil spill on the city’s 90% white inhabitants was deemed too great. The new crossing site shifted the risk to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, in a location of key religious and cultural importance, including the burial grounds of their ancestors. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved several of the required permits without conducting an Environmental Impact Statement or adequately consulting with the Tribe. After several months of peaceful demonstrations and the advocacy of tens of millions of Americans, President Obama listened to the demands of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He declined to issue the final pipeline permit. Then the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced they would conduct a full environmental review, which would focus on the Tribe’s treaty rights.

The Wilson students are: Martin Berka, Fiona Dearth, Gaela Dennison-Leonard, McKenzie Hessel, Julia McDowell, and Camden Singrey. The ACT's Explore or College Readiness Test for 8th and 9th graders provides each student's strengths, areas of improvement and college readiness. Congratulations to our talented young freshmen! The Women’s Voices Theater Festival is history’s largest collaboration of theater companies working simultaneously to produce original works by female writers.
