The analysis is derived from hard and soft data, offering detailed insight on Charlois PRIVATE / PUBLIC in both numbers and people, hereby de- veloping a theoretical background on the area for further development. SOCIAL NETWORKS The data was divided in 7 main categories. Subcategories of these were grouped in three scale levels, the city, the district and the neighbourhood. A focus in analysis from themes rather SOCIAL ABILITY than categories made research from mul- tiple angles valid. In the final scheme (as seen on the front- page) the analysis results -cells- are de- IDENTITY fined by the categories -columns- and scales -rows-. The themes were main- tained by icons as seen right, resulting in a final scheme where within connections were made between different elements of analysis that have influence on one an- other. 5 6 Timeline Demography and economy - Timeline SOCIAL NETWORK 7 8 Categories LIVING Rotterdam 9 !" #$% !&# ) ( ( !,4# !:694# <4!34# (!364# $=>(*( $;2( $" $" '( ( $" *)+) ,( -( ,.( /( !01%2,$34'# 2*)(2 ,-( .( ,.( ,5( ! 26. )(0# ) ,.(724(0 8(724(0 ,.(724(0 9(724(0 !01%23$,34'# ) 863(724(0 ,63(724(0 8(724(0 363(724(0 !01%23.4'# ( ) ( ( % $ % =+(!,4# (!96,4# % >4!8634# % ?!84# '( ( $& % $& % % $& *)+) ,9( -( ,:( ,,( !01%2,$34'# 2*)(2 ,/( 9( ,3( ,:( ! 26. )(0# ) ,,(724(0 8(724(0 /(724(0 -(724(0 !01%23$,34'# ) .(724(0 ,(724(0 -(724(0 -(724(0 !01%23.4'# ( 10 mobility by bicycle Legend number of daily displacements by bike per person Mobility - Rotterdam - Mobility by bicycle MOBILITY 11 Bicycle car & Public transport Legend bicycle car public possesion possesion transport use Mobility- Rotterdam - car, bicycle & public transport MOBILITY 12 Cheap dwellings Legend o sub istricts it a ceap ellin s an an oo ba Cheap dwellings c eap ellin s are a in icator o o ell a nei bour oo unctions arlois as t e ost c eap ellin s Public - private - Rotterdam - Cheap dwellings PUBLIC / PRIVATE 13 City parks Legend ar s it a city unction ar s Charlois position arois as a u e potential by usin its postion bet een bi city par s an t e ri er Public - private - Rotterdam - Green PUBLIC / PRIVATE 14 Traffic Accidents een an erous oa s or ore serious acci ents in t e past years an erous pots oro ore serious acci ents in t e papastst years an erous rossin s or ore serious acci ents in t e PRIVATE / PUBLIC 15 oise isturbances Legend oise ones in ustry areas oise ones or ers area oise ones national roa s oise ones rail areas PRIVATE / PUBLIC 16 ir ollution Legend ission in urban oa s in eional oa s 40 to 50 mg/m3 50 to 60 mg/m3 PRIVATE / PUBLIC 17 ir uality Legend i its cee e urt er esearc e uire PRIVATE / PUBLIC 18 Ethnic composition Legend Surinamers 100,000 Antillianen Kaapverdianen 50,000 Turken Marokkanen 10,000 Overig niet-westers Autochtonen Overige Europese Unie Overig westers Ethnic composition, 2008 Rotterdam Charlois Oud-Charlois %Surinamers 9 11 10 %Antillianen 3 6 5 %Kaapverdianen 3 2 2 %Turken 8 9 10 %Marokkanen 6 7 7 %Other Not Westers 7 10 9 %Native Dutch 54 45 46 %Other EU 6 5 6 %Other Westers 5 4 10 Living - Rotterdam - Ethnicity Social Network 19 Origin of immigrants Oud-Charlois, 2008 Population Surinamers 1,260 Antillianen 672 Kaapverdianen 310 Turken 1,264 Marokkanen 910 Other Not Westers 1,125 Native Dutch 5,855 Other EU 734 Other Westers 465 Total 12,595 Living - X - Ethnicity Social Network 20 Average Stay Years Legend % people stay less than1 year % people stay at least1 year % people stay 2-4 years % people stay 5-9 years % people stay 10-14 years % people stay more than15 years Residential addresses, 2008 Rotterdam Charlois Oud-Charlois % people stay less 30,069 3,788 652 than 1 year % people stay at 26,993 3,437 656 least 1 year % people stay 2-4 54,339 7,095 1,383 years % people stay 5-9 56,664 6,690 1,142 years % people stay 10- 36,718 3,489 792 14 years % people stay 66,706 5,500 1,203 more than15 years Living - Rotterdam - Move mobility Social Network 21 Move mobility- Move in Legend Native Dutch Not weaster Immigrant Other nationality’s Immigrant NO.
