Due to the health measures related to COVID-19, the FIS (International Ski Federation) has actually had to change the 2020/2021 alpine skiing World Cup calendar to avoid mixing disciplines (speed and technique, men and women) and reduce long trips. Consequently Chamonix Mont-Blanc / Les Houches, which was initially intended to host a down- hill and a parallel giant slalom, was finally awarded 2 men’s slaloms on 30th and 31st of January. ‘‘Of course we all dream of seeing a downhill on La Verte again, and it’s only a matter of time until that happens again. The uncertainty surrounding Covid and the cancellations to the calendar, mean that we can count our- selves rather lucky.
