We are delighted that you have chosen to be a part of Australia’s premier sport, entertainment and recreation facilities. This information guide is designed to provide you with important information about your employment. Please read it carefully. Venueswest VenuesWest was established by an act of Parliament passed in 1986. VenuesWest currently manages the operations of the Challenge Stadium, Arena Joondalup, WA Rugby Centre, WA Athletics Stadium, WA Basketball Centre, Champion Lakes Regatta Centre and Midvale Speed Dome. Challenge Stadium commenced operation in 1987 and is now visited by over 900,000 customers each year. The Challenge Stadium offers world class facilities in a wide variety of sport, recreational entertainment and commercial activities. Arena Joondalup commenced operation in March 1994 with the purpose of providing a regional sport, leisure and entertainment facility to service the needs of the community, state and national sporting events. WA Rugby Centre was officially opened on July 14 2011. The facility, which will house Rugby WA and the Western Force, is the final stage of the three facility sports development in the Mount Claremont sporting precinct which includes the WA Athletics Stadium, WA Basketball Centre and now the WA Rugby Centre. WA Athletics Stadium accommodates track and field disciplines including discuss, pole vault and steeplechase, as well as soccer and rugby. It hosts international, national, state and local athletics meets for both senior and junior levels, school athletics carnivals, training sessions and a variety of functions and events. Perth Motorplex at Kwinana Beach commenced operation in December 2000. The complex currently accommodates speedway and drag racing and is establishing a reputation as the best venue for these sports in Australia, if not in the world. Perth Arena will be an iconic building providing a world class facility attracting national and international sporting and entertainment events to Perth. This state of the art indoor sporting and entertainment arena, seating 14,500, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012 and open for events at the end of 2012. Its prime location within the Perth CBD brings it close to public transport, the freeway, the city centre and will serve as a vital link to Northbridge, as Perth’s premier entertainment destination. Court Hire Cost The majority of the West Coast Waves squad have now arrived in Perth and we are looking forward to seeing the new look team under coach Kennedy Kereama play some great basketball during the season. SBL Kicks101 Grand 7 Final It would be remiss of me not to mention the current issue with proposed court hire increases at the WA Basketball Centre. West Coast Fever hopes all supporters will help break the record for a crowd at an ANZ Championship netball game when West Coast Fever meets the Melbourne Vixens at the state of the art Perth Arena this Saturday, April 27. They want to hear a loud and proud Fever crowd at the Arena as they try to break the current record of 8,478 fans at an ANZ Championship game. That record was set back in Round 12, 2010 at Hisense Arena when the Vixens took on the Adelaide Thunderbirds. They want to gather the biggest netball crowd in Perth since 2011 when the Australian Diamonds played an international fixture against arch-rivals New Zealand at Burswood Dome in 2011. That crowd was 6768 and they believe they can better that this Saturday.
