Nieuwendijk 2011cu2251 Email [email protected] Subject construction work Dear Sir/Madam, We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the scheduled construction work around Roeterseiland. Applying nonslip coat to temporary cycling/pedestrian bridge over Nieuwe Achtergracht The upper coat of the temporary bridge proved to be too slippery. Depending on the weather, a new nonslip coat will be applied in the weekend of 4 November. If the work is rescheduled, we will publish a notification on the website (www.uva.nl/roeterseiland). Repavement of passageway between Valckenierstraat/Nieuwe Achtergracht The passageway to the Nieuwe Achtergracht will be repaved towards the end of November. This will cause hindrance to slow traffic. People should temporarily use the route around the J-K building. Repaving will coincide with the furnishing of the recently completed building I, home to CREA - the UvA/HvA’s cultural student centre as of February 2012. Optimisation of barrier at Valckenierstraat/Nieuwe Achtergracht passageway In order to limit annoyance as a result of illegal parking, a barrier (controlled from the control room) will have to be installed. Unfortunately, the current solution with bollards has proven to be inadequate, causing congestion for construction vehicles. The location and specifications of the barrier will be discussed with several local residents. We will publish a notification on the website as soon as a decision has been reached. Our reference 2011cu2251 Removal of B-tower balconies The balconies on the B-tower are set to be removed over the course of the coming week. These balconies are located at a 25-metre distance from the apartments. As a result, all work will have to be carried out under additional safety provisions. This is why we are taking this opportunity to inform you in advance. The contractor is currently preparing a working plan, which will be published on the website in the coming days. Construction of sheet pile wall in sprinkler pit Our previous information bulletin notified you about the necessary pile driving work for the sheet pile wall. The bulletin did not specify the location of the sprinkler pit, which is situated between building section B and the site hut. Construction of the sheet pile wall is scheduled for the week of 7 November, and will last approximately 5 days. Completion of heavy demolition work on façade and main bearing structure of building B/C Heavy demolition work will be largely completed by mid-November. As a result, noise pollution levels will drop significantly. Unfortunately, we cannot rule out annoyance as a result of subsequent activities. We will make sure to provide you with regular updates on the situation. Physical environment permit for connection between Building C and D On 13 October, an application was submitted to the City Centre urban district for a new physical environment permit regarding the connection between building C (Nieuwe Achtergracht 127) and building D (Nieuwe Achtergracht 129). The permit application will be available for inspection for two weeks, from 3 to 16 November. For more information, see the City Centre urban district website (www.centrum.amsterdam.nl). We hope that this provides all the information you need. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact us by calling 020-525 7704 or sending an email to gebiedsregisseur-roeterseiland- [email protected]. Kind regards, J.H.M.
