About Young Epilepsy Young Epilepsy is a wonderful charity with one simple mission; to create better futures for all 112,000 young people aged 25 and under living with epilepsy in the UK. Epilepsy is the most common neurological condition in childhood, with double the number of children living with epilepsy than diabetes. It is an unpredictable, disorientating and distressing condition and the impact is profound - particularly on a child’s memory and learning. There are over 40 types of epilepsy, often associated with other neurological disorders and sadly, on average every week, two children will die. No other organisation has the breadth of knowledge and experience of childhood epilepsy that we have. Our Surrey campus is home to world-leading professors in paediatric epilepsy; epilepsy specialist nurses; specialist teaching staff; therapists and psychologists. Our campus is also home to our residential school and college where we support young people whose epilepsy is so complex they need a tailored education, within reach of our world class medical centre. We ensure every student fulfils their potential, but our current school is no longer fit for purpose, so we must raise £10m to build a new one. Young Epilepsy also offers support to parents and runs outreach programmes like Epilepsy Education 4 Schools, our exciting education programme, which is already saving and changing lives across South East England. We simply cannot support children and families, organise such a fantastic range of projects, or build our new £10m school that our children desperately need, without donations. This is why we are so grateful to Grange Park Opera for its generous decision to make us their Charity of the Year. With their support we can increase awareness of young people with epilepsy and by buying tickets for this fabulous evening, you will not only be enjoying Eugene Onegin in these unique surroundings, you will help us build our new school!
