National List of Species of Korea National List of Species of Korea 「곤충」 (북한지역 곤충) 「Insect」 (Insects of North Korea) 환경부 국립생물자원관 발간사 2010년 제 10차 생물다양성협약 총회에서 생물자원을 활용하여 발생되는 이익을 공유하기 위한 국제적 지침인 나고야 의정서가 채택되었습니다. Ahn, N.H., M.J. Email: [email protected], [email protected] 2Corresponding author Abstract Six species of the genus Micardia Butler, 1878 are recognized from China. Three new species, M. pallens, M. distincta and M. minuta, closely allied to M. pulcherrima (Moore, 1867), are described. The adults and the genitalia are illustrated for all examined species. Key words: Micardia, Eustrotiinae, Noctuidae, Lepidoptera, new species Introduction The genus Micardia (type species Micardia argentata Butler, 1878) was erected by Butler (1878), and originally included the three species, Micardia argentata Butler, 1878, Micardia pulchra Butler, 1878 and Micardia pulcherrima (Moore, 1867). Later, five species of Micardia (M. munda Leech, 1900, M. quqdrilinea Scriba, 1921, M. pulchrargentea Bryk, 1942, M. subobscura Berio, 1973 and M. simplicissima Berio, 1973) were described from China, Japan, Russia (Kurile Isl.) and Myanmar (Leech 1900; Scriba 1921; Bryk 1942; Berio 1973). Among them, M. pulchrargentea Bryk, 1942 was synonymised with M. pulchra (Kononenko 1987, 2005) and the status of M. quadrilinea remained incertain. Berio (1954) and Viette (1982) described four species of Micardia from Madagascar, however their systematic position requires clarification. So far, eleven species of the genus Micardia reported by Poole (1989), including M. pulchrargentea as full species, but missing M. subobscura.

Based on our survey results, a total of 262 lepidopterous insect species in 16 families were collected from Jindo Island. Members belonging to families Noctuidae and Geometridae made up approximately half of the total species (86 species [32.82%] in Noctuidae and 44 species [16.79] in Geometridae). There were 29 species (11.07%) belonging to Crambidae and 28 species (10.69%) belonging to Pyralidae. As a result of all collections based on previous literature and this study, a total of 730 species belonging to 34 families were collected from Jindo Island, including 33 protected species, 242 species (33.15%) belonging to Noctuidae (the most abundant), 124 species (16.99%) belonging to Geometridae, 79 species (10.82%) belonging to Crambidae, and 65 species (8.90%) belonging to Pyralidae. The most frequently collected species was Lamoria glaucalis in this syudy. Our results on the diversity of lepidopterous insects will provide basic information for future investigation on diverse changes in the ecosystem of Jindo Island, Korea.

  • A Revision of the Genus Deltote R. L. and Its Allied Genera from Japan and Taiwan (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae; Acontiinae) Part 1
Bull. Kitakyushu Mus. Nat. Hut., 5: 91-133. September20, 1984 A revision of the genus Deltote R. L. and its allied genera from Japan and Taiwan (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae; Acontiinae) Part 1. A generic classification of the genus Deltote R. L. and its allied genera Kyoichiro Ueda Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History, Nishihonmachi, Kitakyushu, 805 Japan (Received November 30, 1983) Abstract Thirty-three species ofJapanese and Formosan Noctuid moths belong ing to Deltote and its allied genera of Acontiinae are revised in comparison with two European and North American species. Both of the well-known genera, Lithacodia Hubner, 1818 and Eustrotia Hubner, [1821] which have been used extensively in entomological works, arc found to be new synonyms of Deltote R. L., 1817. Four new genera, i.e., Protodeltote, Koyaga, Sugia and Pseiidodeltote are erected. The phy- logenetic relationships among them arc discussed. 1. Introduction The Acontiinae areoneof quadrifid subfamilies of the Noctuidae, and consist of rather small-sized moths. This subfamily is known from 105species represent ing 44 genera in Japan (Suci, 1982). Their larvae are usually semilooper, and the larval foods vary from lichens (Enispa, Corgatha, etc.), dead leaves (Oruza, Hyperstrotia, etc.), to Graminaceous plants (Deltote, Naranga, etc.). This subfamily seems to be heterogenous, as it is rather artficially characterized by the quadrifid type wing venation and the small size for the noctuids. For ex ample the genus Stenoloba, which had been classified in the subfamily by having the above-mentioned two characters, wasrecently transferred from thissubfamily to the subfamily Bryophilinae mainly based on the larval structure (Sugi, 1970). Thus the generic revision of this subfamily is necessary not only for the proper phylogenetic classification but to define strictly the subfamily.

  • Three New Species and a New Combination of Stericta Lederer from China (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae: Epipaschiinae)
Zoological Systematics, 43(2): 190–195 (April 2018), DOI: 10.11865/zs.201817 ORIGINAL ARTICLE Three new species and a new combination of Stericta Lederer from China (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae: Epipaschiinae) Mingqiang Wang1, 2, Fuqiang Chen1, Chunsheng Wu1 * 1Key Laboratory of Zoological Systematics and Evolution, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China 2University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100049, China *Corresponding author, E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Three species of the genus Stericta are described as new to science, S. melasiversusa sp. nov., S. penicilasa sp. nov. and S. hampsoni sp. nov. And a new combination, Stericta melanobasis (Hampson, 1906) comb. nov., was transferred from the genus Lepidogma. All adults and their genital structures are illustrated. The differences between the genus Stericta and it allied genera are discussed. Key words Pyraloidea, Lepidogma, Jocara, Titanoceros, China. 1 Introduction The genus Stericta was erected by Lederer (1863), with S. divitalis Guenée, 1854 (from Sundaland, UK) as type species. It comprises about fifty species, distributes in Palaearctic, Oriental, Australian and Nearctic Regions (Solis, 1992; Nuss et al., 2003–2018; Rong & Li, 2017). The genus was just revised by Rong & Li (2017), including eight species from China. However, more species, allied to the type species, were found during our work. Thus, a supplemental description of the genus was provided, including three species described as new to science, S. melasiversusa sp. nov., S. penicilasa sp. nov. and S. hampsoni sp. nov. and a new combination, S. melanobasis (Hampson, 1906) comb. nov. 2 Materials and methods The examinations of the specimens were collected by light traps.
