This Standard The US Well Number Standard: An identifier for the Petroleum Industry Wells in the USA is the official successor to Bulletin D12A of the American Petroleum Institute (API). In 2010, the API transferred custody of this Standard to the Professional Petroleum Data Management (PPDM) Association. Version: 2013 rev 1 Reason for Revision Replace API Number with US Well Number The US Well Number, a revision of the API Well Number, is at least a 12-digit number assigned to every wellbore and This Standard Replaces: American Petroleum Institute Bulletin D12A, revised 1979 is the successor to previous versions.
