  • Sleeping Beauty Castle
SLEEPING BEAUTY CASTLE Sheet Numbers: 1 - 18 © Disney Approximate assembly time: 2-3 hours HISTORY INSTRUCTIONS Roof 1 Sheet 4 Inspired by King Ludwig III’s Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Sheet 3 Sheet 5 (reversed) Sleeping Beauty Castle opened on July 17, 1955, along with Disneyland Sheet 2 Park. Although inspired by the soaring castles of Europe, the Roof 2 Disneyland Castle was proportioned more to the imagination than history. Walt wanted the scale to be warm and welcoming. Although this centerpiece was there when the park opened, guests could not actually walk through the castle’s interior until 1957. Inside, Sheet 1 guests can experience special 3D dioramas and effects that tell the Sleeping Beauty story. We invite you to make your own version of a Sleeping Beauty Castle diorama. Sheets 8 - 13 PART I : THE DIORAMA : Sheets 1 - 13 MATERIALS GUIDE 1. Color all of the pages. 2. Cut out the rectangles on Sheet 1. Please note that these pieces will go from edge to edge on the paper. Use the guidelines to make an accordion fold. 3. Cut out the set pieces on sheets 2, 3, 4, and 5. Ask an adult to help cut out the center portions, as these will serve as windows through the diorama. Glue and fold back the tops and bottoms of the rectangles to keep the pages standing straight! Note that Sets A and B face the front while Set D faces the back. Fold and glue Set C, so it faces both front and back. 4. Cut out the roof pieces on sheets 6 & 7.

  • Purpose FY15 Performance
LC Paper No. CB(4)590/15-16(06) For discussion on 22 February 2016 Legislative Council Panel on Economic Development Update on Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Purpose This paper updates Members on the operation of the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (“HKDL”) in Fiscal Year 2015 (“FY15”)1. FY15 Performance 2. During FY15 of the HKDL, the tourism industry of Hong Kong was greeted with great challenges due to external factors as well as overall market condition and sentiment. Overnight tourists to Hong Kong, as a major source of guests for the HKDL, also recorded a decline in numbers owing to the external environment, in particular the exchange rate factor. In the light of the changes in number and structure of overnight tourist arrivals to Hong Kong, the business of the HKDL was also considerably impacted. 3. The HKDL received 6.8 million visitors in the year, which is 9% lower than prior year. This represents the third highest attendance since opening. Cumulative attendance since its opening in 2005 has exceeded 58 million as at the end of FY15. Local, Mainland and international visitors respectively accounted for 39%, 41% and 20% of total attendance for the year. Local attendance achieved a record high as a result of a series of promotions and special offers specifically targeted at the local market. 1 The Fiscal Year of the HKDL is generally a 52-week or 53-week period from October of the previous year to September of the year, with the Saturday closest to 30 September as the last day of the Fiscal Year.

Hong Kong Disneyland (“HKDL”) continues to play a pivotal role in making Hong Kong a top family-friendly tourist destination in Asia. The resort has received more than 64 million guests since its opening in September 2005, including 6.1 million in fiscal 2016. 2. During fiscal 2016, HKDL faced headwinds from continued softness in the overall Hong Kong travel and leisure market as well as the unfavourable comparison against fiscal 2015, which benefited from an additional week of operations (“Fiscal Period Impact”).1 Consequently, compared to prior year, attendance decreased 11%, revenues decreased 7% to HK$4.8 billion, and the net loss was HK$171 million. Excluding the Fiscal Period Impact, attendance and revenues were down by 9% and 5% respectively. 3. Despite challenging market conditions, HKDL is encouraged by its improved performance during the second half of fiscal 2016. Compared to the first half of the year, the year-over-year attendance decline eased and hotel occupancy improved in the second half of the year. Performance benefited from the June 2016 launch of “Star Wars: Tomorrowland Takeover”, which has been popular with guests of all ages, as well as marketing and sales initiatives. 4. Full year attendance from international guests increased to its second-highest level ever, illustrating the resort’s strength to attract tourism throughout Asia. Additionally, HKDL achieved record high per capita spending at the park, marking seven consecutive years of growth. 5. HKDL’s improvement has continued into fiscal 2017, with first quarter financial results above the prior-year period.

  • (“HKDL”) in Fiscal Year 2015 (“FY15”)1
For discussion on 22 February 2016 Legislative Council Panel on Economic Development Update on Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Purpose This paper updates Members on the operation of the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (“HKDL”) in Fiscal Year 2015 (“FY15”)1. FY15 is a 53- week year while FY14 is a 52-week year.
