Furthermore, the entire subject of the effects of rock on a listening audience varies considerably from listener to listener. The teen-ager just likes, the sound of the music and the feelings that the music brings out in him, while the adult still thinks of rock as a lot of noise no matter how many magazine articles they read or TV programs they see. -

Welcome to the March edition of Slap. I was hoping to say ‘Spring is in the air’ but I’ve just seen the weather forecast and it’s far from Spring-like. It really feels like it’s been a long winter of discontent with news of more venue closures almost weekly. The latest to go at the end of February was the Pig and Drum in Worcester which has been prominent on the local music seen for a few years now. Thanks to the efforts of landlady Rachel Cale bands from out of town loved playing there. We don’t yet know the long term fate of the Boar’s Mar 2017 Head in Kidderminster since Sid & Sandra announced they’re moving on in the summer, But I don’t think it’ll be the last to go. With business rates rises due very soon and so many people feeling the pinch, these places are really suffering. There are SLAP MAGAZINE rumours of other venues around the counties who may also be Unit 3a, Lowesmoor Wharf, shutting their doors soon. Addio a Paul Kantner, “The Brain” Dei Jefferson Airplane

All this temptation, I can't see wrong from right It's a new sensation, you know I'm blinded by the light. (Feels like) I'm walking on holy water Feels like I'm walking on sacred ground, baby (Feels like) I'm walking on holy water, everytime (that) you come 'round. You were all I ever wanted, never had a girl in my life 'til I met you, oh no I got a certain feeling, you got my senses reeling Whenever I get close to you. You're my salvation, I found you just in time My one temptation, you know I can't believe you're mine. Ooh yeah, it's funny how it seems like yesterday Lovin' of the first degree One word was all I heard you say, ooh baby It's funny what you've done to me Just wanna see you run to me. -
Youtube Playlist: Lead Guitar 1 a Survey of Lead Guitar Styles from 1967 to 1995
YouTube Playlist: Lead Guitar 1 A Survey of Lead Guitar Styles From 1967 to 1995 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDL49rh1iMkT480P4QOuniXY2bJiuMU6W © 2019 Greg Varhaug PURPOSE This playlist will help you to get a feel for the evolution of lead guitar from its beginnngs as an electrified folk instrument to the instrument of choice for single-line leads. Lead guitar solos replaced saxophone solos starting in the 1960s. But the sound of modern lead guitar wasn’t established until the release of the Bluesbreakers album featuring Eric Clapton in 1967. Overnight, the bar was raised for professional guitarists. Clapton, Peter Green, and a handful of practitioners of this new art form showed the rest of the world a way forward. The songs in this playlist each contain elements that you should recognize, know how to reproduce, and know how to respond to as a musician. One reason why we need to go back to the birth of lead guitar is that it is important to learn what the electric guitar sounds like without electonic processing. The first few songs in this list were recorded before there were any guitar effects. In some of these recordings the overall recording quality isn’t very good. So you have to “hear through” these recordings, past their flaws, to understand the most important aspects of lead guitar, and rock music. SECRET AGENT MAN - JOHNNY RIVERS – 1966 This is an example of the sound of a typical ‘60s guitar solo, pre- Clapton. This is a good-sounding lead, even though the articulation is a little jagged.
