Victoria Anderson, trainee solicitor, Carter-Ruck Victoria is a trainee solicitor at Carter-Ruck, specialising in media and commercial law, and is due to qualify in October 2017. She attended the University of Exeter for her LLB and completed an LLM in International Commercial Law at the same institution. Alongside working towards qualification, Victoria is also the CEO of social mobility charity Big Voice , which seeks to engage young people from non-traditional backgrounds with law and legal policy, whilst also aiming to improve access to the legal profession.

Husnara Begum, director, Husnara Begum Consulting Limited Husnara has been working in the legal sector for almost 20 years. She joined as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the firm’s market leading corporate practice. However, as Husnara approached three years’ PQE she felt that a different career path beckoned and joined magazine as a legal journalist. During her lengthy tenure at the weekly title Husnara completed stints as the City editor and editor of Lawyer 2B. She moved into legal recruitment in 2011 and now runs her own consultancy moving lawyers from UK to US law firms. Related to this, Husnara offers career coaching to law students and qualified lawyers and also runs soft skills and media training for law firms.

Christopher Cowland, associate, Clyde & Co Chris studied law at Kings College London graduating in 2009. He trained with Clyde & Co and qualified in 2012. His practice involves both advisory and contentious work. Much of Chris' time is spent advising insurers in relation to property and public / product / environmental liability claims. He regularly drafts policy wordings for insurers and clients in the professional service and pharmaceutical sectors. Chris also handles the day to day running of litigation for both claimants and defendants. For example, he has recently acted in construction project disputes and cases concerning insurance .

Joe Egan, president, The Law Society of England and Wales Admitted in 1982, Joe set up his own firm in 1986 specialising in criminal law. Joe became the first solicitor in Bolton to achieve the right to appear in the Crown courts when he was granted higher rights in 1995. Based in Bolton, his firm has expanded to include matrimonial, personal injury, civil litigation and property work. As an , he has appeared in civil trials and matrimonial final hearings. Recently, he has developed a practice in contested probate. For over 15 years Joe has been joint honorary secretary of Bolton Law Society of which he is also a past president. Since 2006 he has represented solicitors in Lancashire and Greater on the Law Society's Council.

Sakhee Ganatra, trainee solicitor, Travers Smith Sakhee graduated from the University of Warwick in 2013 with a joint honours degree in History and Politics. After taking a gap year in which she travelled to South America, Nepal and Australia she returned to London to complete her GDL and LPC at BPP Law School. In September 2016, Sakhee began her at Travers Smith. Sakhee's first seat was spent in the Corporate department. This was followed by a seat in the Tax department. Sakhee is now in her third seat and is sitting in the Employment department.

Paul Gascoyne, graduate recruitment manager, Shearman & Sterling Paul is the graduate recruitment manager for Shearman & Sterling’s London office. He is responsible for all aspects of the trainee programme from marketing and attraction, recruitment and selection, onboarding, training and development, through to qualification.

Diane Goodier, national programme director, University of Law Diane is a qualified solicitor, having trained at Dawson and Co, Lincoln’s Inn and worked in practice for several years, advising on tax and estate planning, including at Linklaters. She has run her own business, delivering training to lawyers at all levels on a range of topics, including financial services. She now works for the University of Law, where she manages the team responsible for students sponsored by key clients and oversees the delivery of the GDL and LPC at the Moorgate Centre.

Oliver Haddock, trainee solicitor, RadcliffesLeBrasseur Oliver converted to law having completed an undergraduate degree in International Relations at the University of . He completed his GDL and LPC at BPP in London, before spending a year paralegalling in-house in the Wealth Management division of UBS. He began his training contract in September of 2015 with mid-sized city firm RadcliffesLeBrasseur and qualified into the firm's commercial litigation team earlier this month. Oliver takes an active role on a number of committees; he is the current vice chair of the London Young Lawyers Group and has recently founded the London Young Professionals' Network, which aims to promote cross-industry networking opportunities.

Noel Inge, managing director, CILEx Law School Having left school with few qualifications, Noel graduated from Hatfield Polytechnic (now the University of Hertfordshire) as a mature student with a law degree and academic prize. After qualifying as a teacher at Birmingham University, he later acquired a masters degree in employment law at Leicester University, through distance learning. He joined CILEx Law School in 1994, and became Managing Director in 1998. He has been an external examiner at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, on the Legal Education Training Review consolation panel and founded the London Law Fair legal careers consortium, now in its fifth year. Noel is a visiting lecturer in employability at over twenty universities and is active in developing new legal career opportunities for young learners in partnership with the Career Ready charity.

Martin Jordison, solicitor, Government Legal Service Martin is a solicitor with the Government Legal Department (GLD). Before embarking on a career in law, Martin worked in accountancy, media and communications, and managed his own businesses. Martin has held a variety of GLD posts in litigation and advisory roles, and is currently a legal adviser to HM Treasury, dealing with the financial services industry.

Ranae Oliver, trainee legal counsel, Royal Bank of Scotland Ranae is a newly qualified solicitor in the Derivatives Advisory team at RBS Legal. She also completed her training contract at the bank, undertaking various seats within the legal department and an external secondment to one of the bank’s panel law firms. Aside from the day-to-day legal work, Ranae is heavily involved in the pro bono and diversity and inclusion opportunities that RBS Legal has available. Prior to joining RBS, Ranae was able to complete her LPC at BPP Law School due to receiving an award for the course fees from the Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme.

Ian Powell, business development manager, Tuckers Solicitors Ian is the business development manager at the London offices of Tuckers Solicitors, the largest firm of criminal defence solicitors in the country, with offices nationwide. Tuckers also has a respected human rights department. Ian has worked in the criminal law field for over 30 years and has an extensive network of contacts which brings work and staff into the firm. He is the initial interviewer of staff recruited by the firm and also manages the work placement scheme. He speaks at universities and schools across London on careers in law. He is also an adviser for ‘Brixton Lawyers in the Soup Kitchen’. Ian places an emphasis on diversity and community outreach and his approach is direct but energetic and engaging.

Michelle Ruddle, recruitment marketing manager, Hogan Lovells Michelle looks after all aspects of Hogan Lovells' university liaison including the university recruitment strategy, event management and the firm's widening access work experience programmes. She is responsible for the development of all graduate recruitment marketing materials and co-manages the facilitation of the campus ambassador programme and insight days.

Julia Sadler, editor, TARGETjobs Law Julia is editor of TARGETjobs Law and the TARGETjobs Law Vacation Schemes and Mini-, and is responsible for the law advice content on targetjobs.co.uk. After graduating with a degree in law from Reading University and the LPC from the University of Law, she worked as a commissioning manager for legal publishers Lexis Nexis before joining GTI Media in 2002.
