(Uni. of Minnesota) Acting Vice-Chancellor, AIMST University Biotechnology and Bioinformatics is truly a multifaceted field that encompasses Medical, Agricultural, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Biotechnology is one of the fast-growing emerging technologies that can sustain humans with three F‟s: Food, Fuel, and Fibers. In addition to sustaining the human population, with genomics research, it also has the key to the blueprint of human life such as stem cell, regenerative medicine, and personalized medicine. I am happy to remark that the Faculty of Applied Sciences, a research-intensive faculty at AIMST University, has been at the forefront of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Active academic and research collaboration with international universities such as Leicester University (UK), Deakin University (Australia), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), and Technical University of Denmark (Denmark) is the hallmark of the faculty. I am proud to mention that the Centre of Excellence in Omics-driven Computational Biodiscovery (COMBio) is one of the key initiatives taken by the faculty to further enhance research and development in bioinformatics. At this juncture, I would like to extend my warm welcome to all the participants of the virtual “International E-Conference on Biotechnology, Bioinformatics & Biomedicine 2020 (IECBBB-2020)”. The growth of the biotechnology and bioinformatics industries in recent years is unparalleled and coupled with advancements in molecular modeling, disease characterization, pharmaceutical discovery, clinical healthcare, forensics, and agriculture fundamentally impact economic and social issues worldwide. Petani, Dr Tharmalin- gam. They were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of AIMST University, Emeritus Prof. Dr Harcharan Sing Sidhu (3rd from right in pic); and Dean Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr K.R. Sethuraman. The delegation had an exploratory discussion on various potential areas of collaborations in the health sciences. Collaboration with Indonesian Vocational (Nursing) Schools Association On the 11th July 2019, a delega- tion of 23 guests from various nursing colleges of Indonesia led by Prof. Teuku Shahrul Reza vis- ited AIMST Uni- versity to explore the possibility of collaboration. Emeritus Prof. Dr Harcharan Sing Sidhu, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, together with the senior management team of AIMST University, welcomed them. Dr Yu Chye Wah briefed them on the nursing programmes and showed the facilities and laboratories. Under the so called Perak Amanjaya Development Plan, some of the things that we have tried to do are the same things that I believe many others here are concerned about: first, balanced development and economic distribution between the urban and rural areas by focusing on developing small towns; second, poverty eradication regardless of race or religion so that no one remains on the fringes of society or is left behind economically; and, third, youth empowerment. Under the first one, the state identifies viable small- and medium-size companies which can operate from small towns. These companies are to be working closely with the state government to boost the economy of the respective areas.

ERD - Earliest recorded date. 1 Straits 1c postcard overprinted PERAK (Type P1a), with obliterator K1 and £30 Ipoh cancel D2 used No/13/91 to Kwala Kangsar, with arrival D2, 14/No/91. Fine and early. 2 D2 on 3 Perak stamps, SG 61, 64 and 70 dated MR/92 to JA/ 95. Also D3 £35 on 9 items and range of values including 3 blocks of 4 and pair with dates from 19/JY/93 to 3/FE/04. A nice group. 3 Ipoh - Straits 5c, SG 65 cancelled D3 24/No/93 on mourning cover to £40 Hamburg, 24/ NO/93. Prior to acceptance by the UPU of Malay States stamps in 1899, all foreign mail had to be paid in Straits stamps. Transit marks of Taiping and Penang on reverse are dated 25/NO. Some age staining but looks quite good for its age.     Majlis Masyarakat Sivil (MMS) Berama Pertubuhan Badan Bukan Kerajaan (NGO) di bawah Jawatankuasa Local Agenda 21 di seluruh PBT negeri Perak telah mula diperkenalkan penubuhannya pada tahun 2010 dengan persetujuan Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri (MMK) bil 1637 bertarikh 13.10.2010 MMS ini diletakkan di bawah Jawatankuasa Local Agenda 21 dengan bertujuan memperkasakan pelaksanaan program-program di bawah Local Agenda 21 di semua PBT negeri Perak. Disamping itu, penubuhan MMS ini juga berperanan untuk mengeratkan lagi hubungan di antara kerajaan dan orang awam termasuk NGO dalam menambahbaik mutu perkhidmatan yang ditawarkan kepada rakyat. MMS tidak mempunyai kuasa eksekutif sebaliknya menyokong serta membantu jawatankuasa utama yang lain dari segi sumbangan idea dan pandangan. 1. Memberikan pandangan dan input kepada PBT dalam kepakaran dan bidang masing-masing ke arah meningkatkan mutu penyampaian perkhidmatan PBT. 2. Memberikan komitmen kesukarelawan, bersemanghat, bertanggungjawab, beretika, mempunyai inisiatif dan komitmen yang tinggi dalam sebarang 3. Mengadakan mesyuarat sekurang-kurangnya 4 kali dalam setahun. 4. Laporan mesyuarat serta merta minit hendaklah dihantar kepada Kerajaan negeri untuk pemantauan setiap kali mesyuarat diadakan. 5.
