For the Harmony of the Race, Each Individual Should Be
http://www.englishworld2011.info/ WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS / 2019 For the harmony of the race, each individual should be the expression of an easy & ample interpenetration of the male & female temperaments—free of stress Woman must become more responsible for the child than man— Women must destroy in themselves, the desire to be loved— The feeling that it is a personal insult when a man transfers his attentions from her to another woman The desire for comfortable protection instead of an intelligent curiosity & courage in meeting & resisting the pressure of life sex or so called love must be reduced to its initial element, honour, grief, sentimentality, pride & consequently jealousy must be detached from it. Woman for her happiness must retain her deceptive fragility of appearance, combined with indomitable will, irreducible courage, & abundant health the outcome of sound nerves— Another great illusion that woman must use all her introspective clear-sightedness & unbiassed bravery to destroy—for the sake of her self respect is the impurity of sex the realisation in defiance of superstition that there is nothing impure in sex—except in the mental attitude to it—will constitute an incalculable & wider social regeneration than it is possible for our generation to imagine. 1914 1982 WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS 1865-1939 William Butler Yeats was born to an Anglo-Irish family in Dublin. His father, J. B. Yeats, had abandoned law to take up painting, at which he made a somewhat precar- ious living. His mother came from the Pollexfen family that lived near Sligo, in the west of Ireland, where Yeats spent much of his childhood. -

255.4=163.6 Contemporary American Poetry In
UDK 821.111(73)-09-1 "1945/2005"( 497.4):81 '255.4=163.6 CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN POETRY IN SLOVENIAN CRITICISM AND TRANSLATION: 1945 - 2005 lgor Divjak Abstract The article presents the Slovenian reception of five major groups in American post-war poetry -the Formalists, the Confessionals, the Beats, the Black Mountain poets, and the New York School poets - as well as the reception of those prominent authors who cannot be classified in any of these groups. The analysis reveals which groups have attracted most interest of the Slovenian critics and translators, when was the peak of their reception, which methods of interpretation have been used by the Slovenian critics, and to what extent has their judgement about certain contemporary American authors gradually changed. INTRODUCTION This survey of the Slovenian reception of American poetry written after World War II takes into consideration all the relevant articles and publications about contem porary American poetry published in Slovenia between May 9th, 1945 and the end of June, 2005. In these six decades a great deal of Slovenian critical attention was de voted to different periods and genres of American literature, and a great number of American authors were translated into Slovenian. In the second half of the 20th cen tury and the first years of the new millennium no other national literature attracted so much interest of both Slovenian scholars and readers, and probably no other literature has had so much influence on the contemporary Slovenian authors. The topic of this article, however, is limited only to the reception of those contemporary American poets whose work is not always familiar to the wider Slovenian public, but who nevertheless created a great deal of excitement, provoked vigorous debates, and proved very influential in Slovenian literary circles. -

Tradicionalno poezijo, pripovedništvo in dramatiko so zamenjale modernejše forme, prosti verz, moderni roman, ekspresionistično dramaurgijo. -
