we are students we are teachers we are performers we are creators we are storytellers we are explorers we are the rncm we are migrants Migration has been in the DNA of the RNCM from its earliest roots, when in 1893 the German-born conductor Sir Charles Hallé realised his vision of founding a Northern conservatoire which became the Royal Manchester College of Music. Ever since then, musicians have migrated to this city from all over the world to study, teach and perform here. Move forward to 2019/20 and the RNCM now has over 950 students from 55 countries, each with their own unique experience of migration. #WeAreMigrants celebrates the stories and creative output of musicians past and present who have left their homes, through choice or necessity, and explores the impact of migration on their music and on their adopted countries. I am grateful to my committee chair, Dr. Byron Adams, who always believed in my scholarly vision and made me want to become a musicologist. I am also grateful to my committee members: Profs. Walter Clark, Michael Alexander, and Daniel Goldmark. Each of you has made yourselves available to me over this journey and I am profoundly thankful for your words of wisdom. Two archivists deserve special praise: I would like to thank James D’Arc at Brigham Young University who shares my passion for the music of Max Steiner and made my visit to Provo most productive. At the University of Southern California, Edward Comstock constantly fielded my questions and requests and had time for wonderful conversations about our favorite Golden Age film composers.

The Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) is an International Resource Centre on Islam and Comparative Religion. To facilitate information and research in the field of Comparative Religion, we have made available a huge collection of books and CD-ROMs on all the major world Religion. The books include, Religious Scriptures in the original text, transliterations and their translations. We also have various Encyclopedias of world Religions and books by distinguished personalities of various religions. We also have a unique collection of CD-ROMs which adds immense value for both information and research work. Islam is a Semitic religion, which has over one billion adherents all over the world. Islam means "submission to the will of God". Muslims accept the Qur’an, as the word of God revealed to His last and final prophet, Mohammed (peace be upon him). Islam states that Allah sent messengers and prophets throughout the ages with the message of Unity of God, and accountability in the Hereafter. Islam thus makes it an article of faith to believe in all the earlier prophets, starting with Adam, and continuing with Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, John and Jesus amongst many others (may peace be on them all). CONCEPT OF GOD IN ISLAM by Dr. Zakir Naik The Most Concise Definition of God: The most concise definition of God in Islam is given in the four verses of Surah Ikhlas which is Chapter 112 of the Qur’an: "Say: He is Allah, The One and Only. "Allah, the Eternal, Absolute. "He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him." [Al-Qur’an 112:1-4] The word ‘Assamad’ is difficult to translate.
