Leading the Way with Innovation and Excellence Welcome to UW-Madison’s 19th annual Showcase event, a time set aside to learn from each other and recognize efforts on campus to improve work, learning, and climate. March 21, 2018 8:00 a.m.–12:15 p.m. UW-Madison Union South Sponsored by: Office of Strategic Consulting strategicconsulting.wisc.edu "Faculty and staff across our campus are continually looking for ways to advance learning, research and scholarship, and to better serve our constituents. These efforts are helping us to build an entrepreneurial culture that nourishes creativity and innovation. Showcase is an important opportunity to share success stories and think about how to leverage and scale improvements so that we can maintain excellence while striving to become even more efficient." —Rebecca Blank, Chancellor "Showcase is all about ideas and impact. Faculty and staff, or entire departments, develop new ideas to improve programs or processes that move them toward their goals. What is rewarding and valuable to all of us—and what we come to Showcase to see— is the outcome or positive impact of these ideas. Showcase promotes the sharing of these stories so that ideas can be replicated, improved, perhaps applied to different challenges, and collaborative partnerships can grow. That’s impact!" —Sarah C. Mangelsdorf, Provost “Showcase provides an excellent opportunity to display the wide range of innovations taking place across academic and administrative units. It also highlights the spirit of collaboration, which is a foundation of our campus culture. The great ideas and stories shared at Showcase will help us build a bright future for UW-Madison and the students and state we proudly serve.” —Laurent Heller, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration 2 UW-Madison Showcase 2018 Keynote Speaker Mark Guthier Director, Wisconsin Union "From Vision to Reality: The Transformation of the Wisconsin Union" Mark will share highlights and lessons learned from the journey to restore the historic Memorial Union and re-imagine Union South—a 10-year endeavor that was successfully completed last year and has been receiving positive reviews.
