It September 17th-19th 2021 was wonderful to see all the Newf friends that we Water Test haven’t seen in well over a year. People and Beltzville State Park, Lehighton, PA dogs came from great distances to attend. The south and mid-west were well represented as October 6th 2021 was New England and the Mid Atlantic. There Morris & Essex Kennel Club Dog Show NPD Supported Entry were lots of puppies and veterans alike. In fact, Colonial Park, Somerset, NJ the winner of the Triple Crown was an 8-year-old Veteran!!! The site is perfect for a dog October 16th-17th 2021 show…lots of space to park RVs and for Draft Test grooming. Southeastern.... Oldest Newf Competing at the Triple Crown: Colonial…. 12-year-old Ch. Pouch Cove’s Material Girl “Riley” in the Veterans class Newfoundland Clubs.... Look what happens when 3 Regional Clubs and a handful of creative and dedicated people have an idea and it comes to fruition! Countless hours of planning proved that hard work does pay off!!! Six independent Regional Specialties with 3 Sweepstakes... All 3 clubs complemented each other with strengths in different areas and it all came together to provide the Newf fancy with a great long weekend and an opportunity for 12 majors. We had a class dog finish his CH. in 24 hours with 3 5 point majors... I think that may be a record!!!! The show set up began Wednesday April 21, under the direction of the very hardworking Don Sharkey....Don’s team was fabulous...the grounds looked great and ready to go when many of the exhibitors started arriving Thursday morning...We had at least 20 RVs parked around the ring along with many vans and set ups! There was plenty of room to socially distance for all.

Abstract This PhD thesis is comprised of my poetry collection: Berth - Voices of the Titanic (Bradshaw Books, 2012) and a critical commentary which discusses the collection both in printed and performed contexts. Berth is a collection of fifty poems taking a range of forms, including dramatic monologue, and found, sound and concrete poems. It was published and performed to coincide with the centenary of the Titanic disaster on April 14th 2012. The collection encourages an audience to see and hear Titanic in a distinctive way, through the poetic voices of actual shipyard workers, passengers, crew, animals, objects, even those of the iceberg and ship herself. Though extensively researched, it is not intended to be a solely factual account of Titanic’s life and death but a voiced exploration of the what-ifs, ironies, humour and hearsay, as well as painful truths, presented from the imagined perspective of those directly and indirectly linked to the disaster. The critical commentary introduces the notion of factional poetic storytelling and, supported by Julia Kristeva’s definition of intertextuality, considers the extent to which Berth is an intertext.

Il est le 4e fils du capitaine Samuel MURDOCH et de Jane MUIRHEAD McMASTER. Il a 2 frères et 2 sœurs. En 1887, William MURDOCH est diplômé de la Dalbeattie Higth school. En 1888, il fait son apprentissage à bord du Charles Cosworth de Liverpool (Angleterre). Il obtient son brevet de capitaine au long cours en 1896 et entre à la White Star Line en 1899. Il se marie en 1907 avec Ada Florence BANKS, néo-zélandaise. Ils n’ont pas d’enfants.     1 “I Thought it Was a Narrow Shave” A Revised Analysis of the Iceberg Encounter by Samuel Halpern At 10:00pm, ship’s time, Sunday night, April 14th 1912, lookouts Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee took their watch up in the crow’s nest, replacing lookouts George Symons and Archie Jewell. Before Symons and Jewell left the nest, they told Fleet and Lee to keep a sharp lookout for ice and growlers in particular, repeating the orders they received from the bridge earlier that night. According to Reginald Lee, it was about “nine or ten minutes” after seven bells were struck that a dark mass was spotted out on the water ahead of the ship.1 When asked how far ahead of the vessel was the iceberg, Lee responded by saying, “It might have been half a mile or more; it might have been less; I could not give you the distance in that peculiar light.” When that dark mass was finally identified, Frederick Fleet was quick to react. He said to Lee, “There is ice ahead,” and immediately reached up and grabbed the lanyard of the lookout bell above his head and struck it three times to signal the officer on the bridge below that an object was sighted ahead. He then left his place on the port side of the nest and went behind Lee on the starboard side of the nest to get to the loud- speaking telephone that connected the crow’s nest with a loud-speaking phone in the wheelhouse. As Fleet would later recall, “I asked them were they there, and they said yes.” They then asked, “What did you see?” to which Fleet replied, “Iceberg right ahead.” They then followed with, “Thank you.” The person that answered the phone in the wheelhouse was Sixth Officer James Moody.

Evangelio según San Lucas,Cap-15,vs.31 y 31 .- 513 Como mencionamos a lo largo de las páginas precedentes, el RMS “Titanic” formó parte de una trilogía de buques construída en los astilleros Harland & Wolff, de la ciudad de Belfast, Irlanda del Norte, para la White Star Line. Como adelantamos en su momento (ver la primera parte de este Capìtulo, “Los realizadores del sueño”), la decisión de realizar estos barcos fue tomada en el año 1907 ,en el transcurso de una cena que compartieron Lord William Pirrie ,de la White Star Line y presidente de la International Mercantile Marine (IMM),el conglomerado de empresas pertenecientes al millonario estadounidense John Pierpoint Morgan. Em Whitechapel o restante da população ociosa recorria as mais diversas atividades ilegais, percorrendo ruas escuras do miserável bairro londrino, o ano era 1888. A prostituição predominava nos becos e pequenos quartos alugados nas arruinadas pensões do entorno. Mulheres famintas sujeitavam-se à servidão sexual pela recompensa mínima, recebendo alguns trocados que não lhes favoreciam. E neste ambiente imoral, cheio de hostilidades, surge um assassino impiedoso, apelidado de Jack, o estripador. Ele fez cinco vítimas, todas prostitutas, barbarizando-as sadicamente, utilizando sua inseparável faca afiada. Estes atos horripilantes ficavam impunes, porque a polícia nunca o identificou. Mais de vinte anos depois, nas águas tranquilas e geladas do oceano Pacífico, o maior navio já construído deslizava pomposo, levando consigo passageiros ilustres—Alguns nem tanto. O luxuoso RMS Titanic iniciara a viagem inaugural no dia 10 de Abril em 1912, partindo de Southampton, Inglaterra, cujo destino final seria Nova Iorque nos Estados Unidos. Primeiro dia a bordo... Os risos misturavam-se ao som da hábil orquestra, que tocava na sala de recepção. As time goes by, this disastrous event will keep appealing to the imagination of a growing number of people. It will continue to inspire writers and moviemakers alike. Since we, the authors of “Titanic 100 Years”, have been subject to this mysterious phenomenon ourselves, we have decided to launch yet another film about this legendary Ocean Liner. However, it will be a variation on an existing theme so to speak. It will, beyond any doubt, surprise the whole world to learn what could have and what should have happened on that gruelling night of April 14. In “Titanic 100 Years”, we have elaborated on this basic idea, thus providing the script- writers with the necessary material for their scenario while purposely giving them plenty of leeway for their personal interpretation. EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO THE TITANIC IN 1912: The First Officer on duty, William McMaster Murdoch, just before his evasive action, had closed, from the bridge, the electrically controlled watertight doors that separated the sixteen compartments into which the ship was divided. Unfortunately, a spur of ice jutting from the iceberg had cut six thin slits through the one-inch-thick steel plates, twenty feet below the waterline.
