This means that we use a lot of resources — steel, aluminum, and plastics, for instance. But at Toyota, large scale manufacturing doesn't mean large scale waste. In 1992 we introduced our Global Earth Charter to promote environmental responsibility throughout our operations. And in North America it is already reaping significant benefits. We recycle 376 million pounds of steel annually, and aggressive recycling programs keep 18 million pounds of other scrap materials from landfills. Of course, no one ever said that looking after the Earth's resources is easy. But as we continue to strive for greener ways to do business, there's one thing we're definitely not wasting. SCOUTS BSA RESIDENT CAMP LEADERSLEADERS GUIDEGUIDE SUMMER 2021 Greetings Scout Leaders!
SCOUTS BSA RESIDENT CAMP LEADERSLEADERS GUIDEGUIDE SUMMER 2021 Greetings Scout Leaders! The Outdoor Adventures team extends a warm “WELCOME BACK” to all of our Scouting families for Summer Camp 2021. Summer Camp holds a special place in the hearts of all our Scouts and staff and we have learned to appreciate that more, with the cancellation of Summer Camp in 2020, due to the Covid pandemic. We have all gained a renewed appreciation of the great outdoors. We can’t wait to see Scouts back out on our beautiful camp lakes and rivers, swimming, kayaking, on the shooting range, or just relaxing at your campsite after a full day of merit badge programs. We all missed that in 2020. Summer Camp in the GREAT OUTDOORS is coming soon and our Outdoor Adventures team is working hard to ensure that our Scout’s full re-engagement at camp will be an experience they will never forget. To further assist your troop’s summer camp planning this Leader’s Guide consists of two sections; Section 1: Outdoor Adventures Administration (applicable at all camp properties) Section 2: Specific Camp / Program. We have made every effort to capture all pertinent information. However, please do not hesitate to contact us if your question(s) are not answered. Our well-trained camp staff is committed to exceeding your expectations and is working very hard to ensure that our camps are Fun, Clean and Safe. We look forward to greeting you this summer at one of our amazing camps. An Antarctic Adventure: Exploration of the Ross Ice Shelf 1957-1958
An Antarctic Adventure: Exploration of the Ross Ice Shelf 1957-1958 by William J. Cromie October 10, 2010 Copyright No. 1-498306351, William J. Cromie Chapter 1 “You poor bastards will never get back alive!” The possibility had occurred to us, - but it made little difference that evening. Warmed by an ebullient stove and nursed snugly in the arms of intemperance, we could talk our way out of any danger. “How ‘bout leavin’ me that fur-lined parka of yours in your will, Bill, mine’s getting’ pretty worn out.” “What the hell you want a parka for any way, cook,” I answered. “You ain’t stuck your head out the door since the sun came up two months ago.” “You guys are scientists and you’re supposed to be smart. Well, it don’t take no smarts to be goin’ off on a couple thousand mile trip across parts nobody has ever been to, or will ever go to again. In fact, who gives a damn if you go there in the first place?” The burly bulldozer driver took a long “pull” on his beer can and waited for a retort. Before I could give him one, a weather observer butted in, “Yeah, why risk your necks in the ice and cold – dodging crevasses to make a few silly measurements. Stay home and fudge the reports, those assholes in Washington ‘ill never know the difference.” “Yeah, but I will! I came to Little America to …” “Scroungy Redbeard” Paul Dalrymple, a physical geographer, burst through the door leading from the snow-covered tunnel that connected all the buildings.
