The Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), also referred to as a “bed tax” or “room tax”, is a tax assessed to visitors staying in all lodging establishments within the city limits. In 2004, voters passed a ballot measure to ensure there would be an ongoing funding source for parks, recreation and open space by designating 10% of the TOT to fund Community Services/Parks & Recreation. An additional 2% goes to support public safety, and the remaining 2% to support affordable housing initiatives.

GALLERY SHOWCASE: PAUL VANGELDER, PHOTOGRAPHER About the Artist: Paul’s photography is steeped in the tradition of the modern masters going back as far as Timothy O’Sullivan, Carlton Watkins, Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen to the more recent likes of Ansel Adams, Edward and Brett Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Paul Strand, Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Minor White, Paul Caponigro, Harry Callahan and Oliver Gagliani. The works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andre Kertesz and Robert Frank have also been influential. Paul has been photographing since1975 using mostly large format cameras (4x5, 4x7, 8x10). All negatives are now scanned on an Epson Perfection V700 and printed with an Epson R 2880 using Epson Ultrachrome K3 inks. Prints are all photo fiber base papers made by Epson, Ilford, Harman, Hahnemuhle and Museo.
