Pledges and contributions represent about 89% of all operating income. The remainder includes a continuing diocesan grant to support the work of our priest as chaplain at Emory, which represents about 9% of all operating income, and miscellaneous income including facility rent. Overall revenue totaled just under $136,000 for the first half. Compared with the first half of 2017, revenue is down by about (10%) in the year-to-date. Expenses in the first half totaled $126,646, representing about 44% of the budgeted amount for the year. For 2018, budgeted expenses increased 1.4% over 2017. Personnel, program, and physical plant are below budget for the year-to-date, while outreach is in line with projections for the year and administration is over budget for the year-to-date. Looking forward with certainty is impossible. Despite that, I noted to the Vestry in June a moderate level of concern that our contributions are lagging the prior year. As noted earlier in the year, the budget was adopted on a premise of stabilizing with a new rector in place and growing. In the second half of the year, we anticipate higher expenses as the Operating Fund absorbs the cost of maintaining staff choristers at high mass. (To date, this expense had been covered from part of the Hower bequest, which is now depleted.) The cost of maintaining section leaders, who are paid professionals, is $2,000 a month. Along with the staff and volunteers who are charged with serving the parish in financial capacities, I am committed to faithful stewardship of the tithes and offerings that are entrusted to us. We are all mindful how great this trust is, and we are deeply grateful for the gifts of everyone who supports this parish and its ministry.

—Brian Mullaney, Treasurer
