This study examines the lives of four generations of professional Cameroonian soccer players in first and second division French clubs from 1954 to 2010. Through qualitative analysis of 15 „life story‰ interviews conducted in France and Cameroon, we study the conditions of African sport immigrants in France. From the 1950s to the present, their status has evolved little. Although playersÊ monthly salaries have increased and they now enjoy stronger legal protection through FIFA and improved representation through their agents, the similarities between the periods are striking.
