Films, television, stage work, operas and concert appearances have all been touched by Mr. Jones' extensive talents. As a film actor his credits include A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, A DAY AT THE RACES, SHOWBOAT, THE GREAT VICTOR HERBERT and his most popular film THE FIREFLY, in which he introduced the record breaking hit song DONKEY SERENADE. After working with such accomplished performers as Jeanette MacDonald, Mary Martin, Judy Garland , William Powell, Bob Cummings and the Marx Brothers, to name a few, Mr. Jones began to tour in the U .S. and Canada with a one-man show. During his tour of Australia and Europe he was pre sented in a command performance before the King and Queen of England at the I.ondon Palladium. Mr. Jones show business career has also included the most popular operettas, such as THE MERRY WIDOW, BLOSSOM TIME, THE STUDENT PRINCE and DESERT SONG . Among his many stage shows are GUYS AND DOLLS , SILK STOCKINGS , PAINT YOUR WAGON, THE FANTASTICKS and THE MAN OF LA MANCHA, for which he won the 1971 Best Actor Award among the Straw Hat Theatre circuit. Among the television appearances have been THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW, the TONIGHT SHOW, THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW and the MONSANTO NIGHT SPECIAL which featured Mr. Jones and his son Jack. Last year he starred in a production of THE STUDENT PRINCE and again in the role of D on Quixote in another production of MAN OF LA MANCHA . His future plans include a con­ cert tour of Australia and Great Britain. DONALD HALL (James) has just completed a run of INDIANS at Center Stage in the role of the "old time President. " At St. Edwards some of Mr . Hall's credits include ROOM SERVICE with the late Godfrey Cambridge, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE with William Smith, and most recently Casca in JULIUS CAESAR with Charle s Regan . G. C. KEATON (Jacob) is a former disc jockey from Houston. A fifth generation Texan, Mr. Keaton's other vocations include Golden Gloves boxing and a stint with the Houston Seagulls football team . BILL McMILLIN (Nathan) recently appeared as Erronius in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM with John Schuck. Mr . McMillin also served as Robert Aida's understudy in THE MOUSETRAP and understudied the role of Huckelbee in THE FANTASTICKS. Currently he serves as Head of Publicity and Advertising for the Theatre . DONALD M. GADE (John) appeared as Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE with Jan Sterling. He has also appeared in OLIVER! and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. TIMOTHY MACHT (Sam) last appeared as Hysterium in A FUNNY THING . FORUM with John Schuck. Built 1927; architect, Herbert J. Krapp. Landmark Site: Borough of Manhattan Tax Map Block 1023, Lot 54. On June 14 and 15, 1982, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing en the proposed designation as an Interior Landmark of the Alvin Theater, first floor interior consisting of the ticket lobby, the entrance lobby, the auditorium, the stage, the staircases leading from the first floor to the balcony floor and all connecting entrance areas; the balcony floor interior consisting of the balcony, the upper part of the auditorium and ceiling; and the fixtures and interior components of these spaces, including but not limited to, wall and ceiling surfaces, doors, stair railings, and attached decorative elements; 244-254 West 52rrl Street, Manhattan, and the proposed designation of the related Landmark Site (Item No.2). The hearing was continued to October 19, 1982. Both hearings had been duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of law. Eighty­ three witnesses spoke in favor of designation. Two witnesses spoke in opposition to designation.

    The Theatre Memphis Programs Collection Processed by Joan Cannon 2007 Memphis and Shelby County Room Memphis Public Library and Information Center 3030 Poplar Avenue Memphis, Tennessee 38111 Scope and Content The Theatre Memphis Programs Collection was donated to the Memphis Public Library and Information Center by many individual donors over several years. Consisting of programs from performances at Theatre Memphis between the years 1975 and 2007, the collection provides invaluable information on the operation of community theatre in Memphis. Each program includes the names of the director, cast and crew as well as information on the production. Theatre Memphis was established as the Little Theatre in 1921. For several years plays were performed in a variety of locations in Memphis including Germania Hall and the Nineteenth Century Club. In 1929 the Little Theatre was headquartered at the Pink Palace Museum Playhouse where they would remain until the mid-1970s. When the Pink Palace closed for renovations, the theatrical company opened their own venue on Perkins Extended in East Memphis. Descriptive Summary Creator: Various Title: Brooklyn Theater Playbills and Programs Collection Date Span: 1875-1972 Abstract: The Brooklyn Theater Playbills and Programs Collection consists of 800 playbills and programs for motion pictures, musical concerts, high school commencement exercises, lectures, photoplays, vaudeville, and burlesque, as well as the more traditional offerings such as plays and operas, all from Brooklyn theaters. Quantity: 2.25 linear feet Location: Brooklyn Collection Map Room, cabinet 11 Repository: Brooklyn Public Library – Brooklyn Collection Reference Code: BC0071 Scope and Content Note The 800 items in the Brooklyn Theater Playbills and Programs Collection, which occupies 2.25 cubic feet, easily refute the stereotypes of Brooklyn as provincial and insular. From the late 1880s until the 1940s, the period covered by the bulk of these materials, the performing arts thrived in Brooklyn and were available to residents right at their doorsteps. At one point, there were over 200 theaters in Brooklyn. Frequented by the rich, the middle class and the working poor, they enjoyed mass popularity. With materials from 115 different theaters, the collection spans almost a century, from 1875 to 1972. The highest concentration is in the years 1890 to 1909, with approximately 450 items.

Lewis From the Publishers Managing Editor: The body has come to be seen as the locus of both desire and action and it is the body's materiality which Michal Carley informs many contemporary theories of production. The name Art Muscle situates our endeavor in the material world. The world of art production, acquisition and the act of performance needs to be seen in relation to an earlier, historically romanticized artistic spirit or the physically inactive realm of pure concept and its often tenuous claim to objectivity and uncorrupted idea. Business Manager: We live in a world of matter and for us to allow ourselves to be placed solely into a nether world of the spirit, or the fictitious realm of pure aesthetic form is to assure our own disengagment from a world which should be Bob Friedman equally ours as much as anyone's. The muscle is the physical agent of our action. At times dormant, at other times contracted. Coaxed into sculptural beauty or rather more often allowed to atrophy, it remains the aching, flexing, lifting and moving Art Director: agent of our corporal form.
