Pasian VO-DCA slides) • Integrate the currently-available archives (high-energy missions, TNG, GSC2 mirror, radio archives) within the Virtual Observatory framework • Allow the design archives under development (LBT, VST, SRT) to be VObs-compliant • Harmonise data retrieval and processing facilities for all archives, providing similar tools and functionalities • Integrate archives of theoretical and simulated data, currently under development in the framework of a national Theory VObs project, so as to make them available within the VObs infrastructure • Allow massive production of theoretical and simulated data, by providing access to parallel and distributed computing facilities, using the standard middleware currently in use for computational grids (e.g. EGEE) INAFINAF @@ VOVO--AIDAAIDA WP2: Strategy, co-operation and dissemination • Strong collaboration with VO-DCA activity: – Member of VObs.it • INAF Data Center: IA2 – TNG archive – ITVO archive – LBT archive (development for the whole LBT corporation) – Italian Dissemination Main Actor: R. Smareglia – INAF INAFINAF @@ VOVO--AIDAAIDA WP6: JRA - Evolution of VObs interop. standards • Direct link to ITVO (Italian Theoretical VObs) project • VO – Tech & VO - DCA – increase the number of theoretical data stored inside the ITVO: – extend the creation on-the-fly profiles for red-shift ≠ 0, for Gadget files; – User manual : how to link services using Java or C++ – Improve the query services – Refine the GADGET cutout and randomize services; – Prototype: • VisIVO Server on grid; – Add a preview services on level 1 using VisIVO server; – Creation on the fly of maps via VisIVO server; – produce a stable and useful service to the scientific community – Continuing in the co-operation inside the IVOA to develop the DM and the access protocol for theoretical data. Smareglia – INAF INAFINAF @@ VOVO--AIDAAIDA WP8: JRA - Assessment of emerging technologies WP.8 - Semantics and Ontologies (INAF+CNRS) - definition and usage of vocabularies - vocabularies in different VO contexts: from science to outreach (WP.5) - RDF/SKOS formatting, mapping between vocabularies - use vocabularies to tag and explore resources - ontologies - prototyping the ontology on astronomical object types and measurements - application to practical use-cases (e.g.: consistency checks, ..) Smareglia – INAF INAFINAF @@ VOVO--AIDAAIDA WP8: JRA - Assessment of emerging technologies WP.8 - Data Maining (INAF) Building upon the expertise matured in the VO-Tech framework: • Using an existing pipeline (2dPhot) we plan to port on the GRID a data processing pipeline (from raw images to catalogues) capable to run on (optical) survey data. • Use the VONeural models to implement a user friendly and general purpose interface to perform data mining tasks on Massive data sets within a distributed (GRID-like) computing environment. • This interface will largely draw on the resources made available through the VO- Tech project (in terms of interoperability). • The interface will be designed and documented with a large set of examples and templates in order to be used also as a “teaching tool”.
