A young couple asked me to design an extension to their tiny house in Leuven. Since the existing building of the 1920s was only 3,4 meter wide and their family was growing, this was a particularly interesting opportunity to investigate the densification potential of a typical Flemish townhouse.

My design conceives the extension as an elongated sequence of spaces. The amount of space is almost doubled and ample light enters the house. In order to emphasize the link with the garden, the extension descends in four plateaus, allowing a view on the tree from the center of the house through the patio. <
