Annex-A Agenda Item No. 03 Consideration of PEC Visit Reports Annex-A to the Minutes of 64rthEA&QEC/EAB Meeting held on November 29, 2012 at PEC HQ, Islamabad Agenda Item No. 03 Consideration of PEC Visit Reports a) Accreditation, Re-accreditation, Confirmatory, Review and Re-visit Reports. S# Name of University/Program Profile Decision of EA&QEC 01. Iqra University, Karachi (Islamabad Campus) Program B.E. Electronics Accreditation is granted for one year Current Not Accredited (Intake of Batch 2008) subject to eight- Status week remedial education to the Visit Type First Accreditation observed deficiencies due to short of Visit regular semester(s). The remedial Date of Visit 04-05/07/2012 education should cover the following courses at no additional expense to the students: i. Signal and Systems ii. Circuit Analysis I iii. Circuit Analysis II iv. Electronics I v. Electronics II vi. Control Systems vii. Power Electronics viii. Digital Design These deficiencies should be ensured to cover in all on-going semesters of 16-18 weeks, as well. The University should inform PEC in writing regarding conducting and completion of remedial education and passed out students through the examinations. The intake must not exceed 40 students (1 section) per year. University should address the weak areas mentioned in the report before applying for subsequent reaccreditation. Polymer Accreditation is granted for one year Engineering only (Intake of Batch 2007) on Current Not Accredited successful completion of extra core Status courses as advised by the last PEC Visit Type First Accreditation visitation team. Visit Date of Visit 28-29/06/2012 For batches 2008 and onwards, the university must ensure that the same core courses be taught to the students by conducting an extra semester(s). This should be communicated to PEC which will be verified during the next Accreditation visit. The university should induct more faculty members for the program to bring down student / teacher ratio to 20:1 as described by PEC. University is advised to address all weak areas / observations mentioned in the last visit report in intimation to PEC before applying for next re- accreditation. 03. NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi a. Program B.E. Polymer & Re-accreditation is granted for two Petrochemical years i.e., Intake of Batches 2008-09 Current Intake of Batch 2007- and 2009-10. The University of Lahore, Lahore (Main Campus) Program B.Sc. Mechanical Accreditation is granted for one year Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. Current Not accredited Status University should induct more PhD Visit Type Accreditation qualified faculty. Deficient courses of Date of Visit 25-26/07/2012 Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry are conducted before graduation of batch 2008. University should address the weak areas mentioned in the report before applying for subsequent re- accreditation. 06. University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore (Main Campus) Program B.Sc. Chemical Re-accreditation is granted for two Engineering (Polymer) years i.e., Intake of Batches 2008 and Current From Intake of Batch 2009. Status 2002 upto 2007 Visit Type Re-accreditation University should address the weak Date of Visit 27-28/06/2012 areas mentioned in the report before applying for subsequent re- accreditation. S# Name of University/Program Profile Decision of EA&QEC 07. University of Engineering & Technology, Taxila (Main Campus) Program B.Sc. Re-accreditation is granted for two Telecommunication years i.e., Intake of Batches 2008 and Engineering 2009. Current Intake of Batch 2007 Status only University should address the weak Visit Type Re-accreditation areas mentioned in the report before Date of Visit 18-19/07/2012 applying for subsequent re- accreditation. 08. University of Wah, Wah Cantt. a. Program B.Sc. Mechanical Re-accreditation is granted for one year Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2009 only. Current For Intake of Batch Status 2004 upto 2008 The University must get regularized its Visit Type Re-accreditation students intake, which has been Date of Visit 12-13/07/2012 increased to 110, by applying for ‘change of scope’ to PEC and all requirements in this regard must be fulfilled. In case of non-compliance, re- accreditation request may not be entertained. University should address the weak areas mentioned in the report before applying for subsequent re- accreditation. b. Program B.Sc. Electronics Re-accreditation is granted for one year Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. The same may be given priority along with observations and recommendations of this year's last visitation report. The compliance should be intimated to PEC before applying for subsequent re- accreditation visit. 09. NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad (University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore) Program B.Sc. Electrical Re-Accreditation is granted for two Engineering years i.e., Intake of Batches 2008 and Current From Intake of Batch 2009. Status 2003 upto 2007 Visit Type Re-accreditation University should address the weak Date of Visit 19-20/07/2012 areas mentioned in the report, especially hiring of qualified PhD faculty, before applying for subsequent re-accreditation. 10. Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad Program B.S. Material Sciences Accreditation is granted for one year & Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. Current Accreditation Visit Status Institute should address the weak Visit Type Accreditation areas mentioned in the report before Date of Visit 30-31/07/2012 applying for subsequent re- accreditation. 11. University of Management and Technology, Lahore Program B.S. Electrical Re-accreditation is granted for one year Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. Current From Intake of Batch Status 2005 upto 2007 EA&QEC has shown serious concerns Visit Type Re- accreditation pertaining to non-compliance on the Date of Visit 13-14/07/2012 increased students- teacher ratio, hiring of faculty and desired overall compliance on the following:- a. University restricts the Intake to 120 students (with one entry per year) for atleast two consecutive years, till S# Name of University/Program Profile Decision of EA&QEC such time, no request for change of scope visit for enhancement of intake would be entertained. UMT must provide PEC with a list of all students admitted in BSEE for each admission or batch every year by October. b. Dedicated PhD faculty teaching BSEE (currently only one) should be increased to atleast three (03). EE-Faculty should be devoted to teach its own degree students and must not be involved in teaching other degree programs being offered under School of Science and Technology (SST). c. UMT should immediately provide a list of all its dedicated faculty members for BSEE program with an undertaking that none of these faculty members shown dedicated to BSEE would be engaged in other program. If any of these faculty members would be planned to be involved with other degree program, UMT would immediately inform PEC for such change in writing. Any discrepancy found in the subsequent PEC visits would call for an immediate withdrawal of accreditation of the program. d. Starting from Fall-2012 semester, university MUST schedule its class timetable for theory and lab sessions in accordance with PEC guidelines i.e., 1-contact hour for 1- Credit Hr.

Abdul Rehman The Superior College Lahore Muqaddas Rehman Hailey College of Commerce,Lahore The enrollment of international students in higher education institutes (HEI) in Pakistan is increasing nowadays. The purpose of this study was to explore the academic experiences of international students in the natural setting of HEI. Human behaviors are subjective in nature; so this study used interpretative research paradigm to gain insight into the individual education experience in HEI. This study used a qualitative approach to understand the meanings of the student’s experiences in their own words. This study adopted convenient sampling to select international students in HEI and used semi-structured interview guide to explore their experiences related to academics, psychological issues, and society. This study used N-Vivo 11 Plus and derived two main themes; first academic challenge and second are psychological issues. The academic challenge consisted of three sub-themes like; academic progress, parent-teacher meetings, and the role of teacher. Similarly, psychological issues constituted on confusion, homesickness, and depression. The results revealed that 75 times students repeated that they were facing many academic obstructions in Pakistan and 56 times they discussed their psychological issues. Moreover, students repeatedly documented that their academic progress had been deteriorated and their grades had been worsened. Moreover, teacher behavior is biased towards international students because of a lack of communication between teachers and parents. Furthermore, international students feel homesickness, depression, and confusion in the absence of their family.

Short title and commencement.– (1) These rules may be cited as the Punjab Government Rules of Business 20111. (2) They shall come into force at once. 2. Definitions.– In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires: (a) “Assembly” means the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab; (b) “Attached Department” means a department mentioned in column 3 of the First Schedule; (c) “Autonomous Body” means a Body mentioned in column 4 of the First Schedule; (d) “Business” means the work done by the Government; (e) “Cabinet” means the Cabinet of Ministers, with the Chief Minister at its head as mentioned in Article 130 of the Constitution; (f) “Case” means a particular matter under consideration and includes all papers pertaining to it and necessary for its disposal, such as correspondence and notes and any previous papers connected with the subject; (g) “Chief Secretary” means the officer notified as such in the Gazette, and includes Additional Chief Secretary in Services and General Administration Department; 2[(ga) “Commissioner”, “Additional Commissioner”, “Deputy Commissioner”, “Additional Deputy Commissioner” and “Assistant Commissioner” shall have the same meanings as are respectively assigned to them in the Punjab Civil Administration Act 2017 (III of 2017);] 1Approved by the Provincial Cabinet in its meeting held on March 08, 2011 in terms of Article 139 of the Constitution of the Islamic republic of Pakistan.
