Agenda Item No. 03 Consideration of PEC Visit Reports a) Accreditation, Re-accreditation, Confirmatory, Review and Re-visit Reports.

09. NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad (University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore) Program B.Sc. Electrical Re-Accreditation is granted for two Engineering years i.e., Intake of Batches 2008 and Current From Intake of Batch 2009. Status 2003 upto 2007 Visit Type Re-accreditation University should address the weak Date of Visit 19-20/07/2012 areas mentioned in the report, especially hiring of qualified PhD faculty, before applying for subsequent re-accreditation. 10. Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad Program B.S. Material Sciences Accreditation is granted for one year & Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. Current Accreditation Visit Status Institute should address the weak Visit Type Accreditation areas mentioned in the report before Date of Visit 30-31/07/2012 applying for subsequent re- accreditation. 11. University of Management and Technology, Lahore Program B.S. Electrical Re-accreditation is granted for one year Engineering i.e., Intake of Batch 2008 only. Current From Intake of Batch Status 2005 upto 2007 EA&QEC has shown serious concerns Visit Type Re- accreditation pertaining to non-compliance on the Date of Visit 13-14/07/2012 increased students- teacher ratio, hiring of faculty and desired overall compliance on the following:-

a. University restricts the Intake to 120 students (with one entry per year) for atleast two consecutive years, till S# Name of University/Program Profile Decision of EA&QEC such time, no request for change of scope visit for enhancement of intake would be entertained. UMT must provide PEC with a list of all students admitted in BSEE for each admission or batch every year by October. b. Dedicated PhD faculty teaching BSEE (currently only one) should be increased to atleast three (03). EE-Faculty should be devoted to teach its own degree students and must not be involved in teaching other degree programs being offered under School of Science and Technology (SST). c. UMT should immediately provide a list of all its dedicated faculty members for BSEE program with an undertaking that none of these faculty members shown dedicated to BSEE would be engaged in other program. If any of these faculty members would be planned to be involved with other degree program, UMT would immediately inform PEC for such change in writing. Any discrepancy found in the subsequent PEC visits would call for an immediate withdrawal of accreditation of the program. d. Starting from Fall-2012 semester, university MUST schedule its class timetable for theory and lab sessions in accordance with PEC guidelines i.e., 1-contact hour for 1- Credit Hr. of theory work and 3- contact hours for 1-Cr. Hr. of lab work.

University is also advised to address rest of the PEC observation mentioned in the report before applying for next re- accreditation in intimation to PEC.

Current From Intake of Batch Status 2004 upto 2008 University should provide the plan for Visit Type Re-accreditation the construction of its new campus as Date of Visit 07-08/08/2012 the current rented building does not have sufficient space for laboratories, library etc.

The Intake must be restricted to one entry per year not exceeding 50 students.

The House has shown serious concerns on the non-compliance as indicated in the expert visit report. Some remedial education was advised for Batch-2006 earlier along with the direction of remedy and removing serious observations/weak areas for Batch 2007 onwards, despite the university has not taken up any redress to all such deficiencies so far. Further re-accreditation request for assessment would only be entertained at satisfactory compliance report on all the observations by the university. 26. College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Rawalpindi (National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad) a. Program B.E. Current Status From Intake of Batch 2002 upto 2004 with Intake of Batch-2013 should not be remedial education more than 40 students; otherwise verified by the request for subsequent re-accreditation university, and Intake would not be entertained by PEC.
