He was graduated from Central Catholic High School, Toledo, Ohio, June, 1934, and entered the Novitiate of the Society of Jesus at Milford, Ohio, in August of the same year. His Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in philosophy was conferred by Loyola University, June, 1940.
