PUBLIC TRANSPORT

LONDON UNDERGROUND A normal service will operate, except there'll be fewer trains during in the evening peak. From 20:00, services will start to wind down and the last trains will run to a Sunday timetable. However, the Waterloo & City Line will run some later trains with the 23:26 from Bank and the 23:20 from Waterloo being the final services.

Cannon Street Station will close at 21:00 and Marylebone will close at 22:30.

LONDON OVERGROUND No service between Highbury & Islington and New Cross / Clapham Junction / Crystal Palace / West Croydon. On the rest of the London Overground, a weekday service will run with the last trains around 21:30

DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY A normal weekday service will run until 14:00, after which services will run every 10 minutes, except on the following routes.

Bank to Lewisham - Every five minutes between 14:00 and 19:30 Stratford to Canary Wharf - Every six minutes between 14:00 and 19:30

TRAMLINK A Saturday timetable will operate until 20:00 when a reduced service will run (every 25 minutes) on routes 1 & 2, and (every 20 minutes) on route 3. Services will end at the normal time

EMIRATES AIR LINE A normal weekday service will run from 07:00 until 20:00

LONDON BUSES All services will run to a Saturday timetable, except on the following routes

507 & 521 - A reduced Monday to Friday service 603 - No Service 969 & X68 - A reduced service

There'll be no Night Buses overnight from Christmas Eve into Christmas Day, and 24-hour services will operate until just after midnight.

WOOLWICH FERRY A single-boat service will operate all day (until 20:00)

RIVER SERVICES There'll be changes to some routes

RB1 - Every 20-30mins between 06:00 and 21:26 RB2 - Normal Service RB4 - Every 10-20 minutes between 06:20 and 22:15 RB5 & RB6 - Every 40-50 minutes between 06:30 and 21:17

CHRISTMAS DAY (WEDNESDAY 25th DECEMBER)

NATIONAL RAIL

There will be no service on Christmas Day apart from on the Heathrow Express, where there will be a shuttle service between terminals.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There’ll be no London Underground, London Overground, DLR, Emirates Air Line, Tramlink or London Bus services on Christmas Day.

BOXING DAY (THURSDAY 26th DECEMBER)

NATIONAL RAIL

Most rail companies will not run a service on Boxing Day, with the following exceptions.

Chiltern Railway Services will run on the Bicester North-Marylebone line only. Details of their special timetable are available here

Eurostar Services will start later than normal, but will then run to a regular timetable

Stansted Express A half hourly service will run all day from Liverpool Street from 06:25 to 23:25.

Heathrow Connect No service (except a shuttle between terminals)

Southeastern No Service (except between St Pancras International and Ashford International)

Southern Half hourly services will run between London Bridge and Sutton / East Croydon. Services will run half hourly between London Bridge and East Grinstead and between Three Bridges and Brighton hourly. However, buses will replace part of the journey between East Grinstead and Three Bridges. Buses will also run to/from Gatwick Airport from East Grinstead and Three Bridges

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

LONDON UNDERGROUND A special service will run on those lines unaffected by engineering works. First trains will run from around 08:30 with last trains at Sunday times.

Before 10:30 and after 20:30, trains in zone 1 will run every five to eight minutes, and every 10 to 20 minutes in other zones.

District Line – Until 19:00, No service between Earl's Court and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Kensington Olympia/Richmond

After 19:00, there’ll be no service between Edgware Road and Wimbledon, and between South Kensington and Ealing Broadway/Kensington Olympia/Richmond/Wimbledon.

Piccadilly Line - A special service will run, with additional trains calling at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green and Chiswick Park and with some trains being diverted to/from Ealing Broadway. This is because of the works at Earl's Court affecting the District line.

Jubilee Line – No service between Waterloo and Finchley Road

LONDON OVERGROUND No service, although some interchange stations will be open

DLR Services will run every 10 minutes on all routes between 09:30 and 23:30, except between Bank and Lewisham (10:30 to 19:30) where services will run every five minutes

TRAMLINK A Sunday service will run, except between Wimbledon and East Croydon where services will run every seven to eight minutes between 10:30 and 17:30

EMIRATES AIR LINE A Saturday service will run between 08:00 and 20:00

RIVER SERVICES No service (inc. Woolwich Ferry)

LONDON BUSES 24-hour routes will start around 06:00 with a normal service operating overnight from Thursday into Friday

Night bus services will operate to a normal Thursday night timetable

FRIDAY 27th DECEMBER

NATIONAL RAIL

C2C Will run to a Saturday timetable

Chiltern Railway A Saturday service will run

East Coast A special service will run because of major works at Peterborough. Buses will replace services on part of the line

East Midlands Trains An amended service will run because of works closing the line near Lincoln. Buses will replace services on part of the line

Eurostar A normal service will run

First Capital Connect Great Northern – A revised service will start from 05:00 with buses replacing trains between Huntingdon and Peterborough

Thameslink - A revised service will run with no trains between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport.

First Great Western An amended timetable will run, with no service on the Paddington-Greenford line. Buses will replace trains between Maidenhead and Marlow and between Reigate and Gatwick Airport

First Hull Trains A special service will run because of major works at Peterborough. Buses will replace services on part of the line

Gatwick Express No Service

Greater Anglia A Saturday timetable will run, with buses replacing trains between Peterborough and Ely

Grand Central Trains No service

A half hourly service will run (Paddington-Heathrow from 07:15-2315 and Heathrow- Paddington from 0731-2331)

London Midland A special service will run because of works at Birmingham New Street

South West Trains Platforms 1-9 are closed at Waterloo Station. As a result, a reduced service will operate

Southeastern A Saturday timetable will run, subject to engineering works. No trains will run from/through Gravesend, and High Speed services will be replaced by buses between Ebbsfleet and Strood

Southern Trains between Purley and Gatwick Airport will not run. Services will run between Victoria and Gatwick Airport via Horsham and between Victoria and East Grinstead. Buses will run between East Grinstead and Gatwick Airport / Three Bridges. Buses will run between Coulsdon Town and Gatwick Airport / Three Bridges. Other than the diverted Victoria to Gatwick Airport trains, no Southern service will run between Epsom, Dorking and Horsham.

Stansted Express A Saturday timetable will operate

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

LONDON UNDERGROUND A special 24-hour service will operate on most lines, with first trains starting at normal weekday times. Trains will run every three to five minutes in Zone 1, and every five to 12 minutes in other zones. There'll be free travel on the Underground, Buses, Trams and DLR between 23:45 (31st Dec) and 04:30 (1st Jan)

There'll be some changes to train times, including: Hammersmith & City Line - no service between 10:00 and 15:45

District Line - no service between Earl's Court and Kensington Olympia

Piccadilly Line - no service between Uxbridge and Rayners Lane (A reduced 20 minute service will run to/from Heathrow Terminal 4)

Waterloo & City Line - a special six to eight minute service between 08:00 and 02:00

Metropolitan Line - a reduced service will operate off-peak on the Watford Branch (every 20 minutes) and on the Amersham and Chesham Branches (every 40 minutes)

LONDON OVERGROUND Will run a Saturday timetable, but with free travel from 23:45 until the end of service. There'll be changes to some trains on the line between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon / Clapham Junction:

Highbury & Islington to Crystal Palace will operate every 30 minutes from 23:30 until last trains (01:43 from Crystal Palace and 02:25 from Highbury & Islington)

Highbury & Islington to West Croydon will operate every 15 minutes from 22:15 until last trains (02:09 from West Croydon and 02:50 from Highbury & Islington)

DLR A Saturday service will operate until 19:30 with some routes enhanced at peak times. A 10- minute service will operate until 00:30 with a special overnight service at a 15-minute frequency.

TRAMLINK A Saturday service will be in operation with an all-night service running as follows

 Wimbledon to Beckenham Junction, 30 min frequency from last tram to first tram Wednesday 1 January 2014.

 Wimbledon to New Addington, 30 min frequency from last tram to first tram Wednesday 1 January 2014.

EMIRATES AIR LINE A normal service will operate from 07:00 to 20:00.

LONDON BUSES A Saturday timetable will operate with the following exceptions

507 & 521 - A reduced weekday service will operate 603 - No service 388 - After 20:00 services will operate between Hackney and Liverpool Street only due to road closures in central London 507 - Will operate until 19:00

RIVER SERVICES RB1 - Every 20-30 minutes from 06:00 (Woolwich) and 06:58 (Embankment). The last service from Embankment will be at 19:28 RB2 - About every 40 minutes from 09:57 until 16:40 RB6 - Every 40-50 minutes between 06:30 and 19:47

NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS

This section details road closures, changes to bus routes, tube stations and last train times.

ROAD CLOSURES As usual, most roads in central London will be closed. The closures will be start being enforced from 17:00 and the final closures will be in by 23:10

CHANGES TO LONDON UNDERGROUND

There will be major changes to regular Tube and train services and you may have to use different routes or station entrances with specific queuing arrangements.

Plan your journey both to and from the event and remember you might not be able to use the same route home as the one you took to travel into central London.

Be aware stations may have to close at short notice to ensure public safety. The anticipated station closure and reopening times are shown below. These may be subject to change on the night.

Blackfriars - exit only from 22:00 until 01:00. No direct access to viewing areas.

Cannon St - Closes 21:00, reopens 06:00.

Charing Cross - Tube access only via Strand/Villiers St. Exit only from 23:45; reopens by 03:00.

Covent Garden - Exit only from 19:00; reopens by 03:00.

Embankment - Access only via Strand/Villiers St. Closes between 23:30 - 00:15.

Holborn - to operate as planned for as long as practical.

Kensington Olympia - closed.

Trains will also run between Victoria and East Grinstead. Buses will run between East Grinstead and Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges. Connections for trains to Brighton and the coast should be made at Three Bridges. Buses will run between Coulsdon Town and Redhill. Other than the diverted Victoria to Gatwick Airport trains, no Southern service will run between Epsom, Dorking and Horsham. Customers may use South West Trains between Epsom and Dorking. Buses will also run between Leatherhead and Dorking.

Trains between Victoria and Clapham Junction will be diverted and will not call at Battersea Park.

Stansted Express A Saturday timetable will operate

Virgin Trains A reduced service will run on all routes due to engineering works elsewhere on the network

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

LONDON UNDERGROUND A special service will run on all lines with a limited service every 10 to 15 minutes in zone 1, and every 20 to 30 minutes in outer zones until 10:30. From 10:30, a reduced Sunday service will operate. Last trains will be at normal weekday times.

There'll also be some engineering works, with no service on the District Line between Earl's Court and Kensington Olympia

LONDON OVERGROUND A Saturday timetable will operate on all routes, except the Watford Junction to Euston line.

DLR A special 15 minute service will run until 10:00, after which a Saturday timetable will operate

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

ROADWORKS There are no major works scheduled by Transport for London for the Christmas period, but unscheduled and emergency works could pop up at any time.

The Highways Agency will suspend several sets of works across the country, although lane restrictions at some of the long-term works sites will remain in place.

CONGESTION CHARGE There'll be no congestion charge over the holiday period between Christmas Day (25th December) and New Year’s Day (1st January).

VICTORIA COACH STATION There'll be some changes to services over the Christmas period with less coaches running after 19:00 on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

On Christmas Day, only Megabus, IdBus and National Express will operate (As well as the Oxford Tube coach service from Buckingham Palace Road). You're advised to book tickets in advance as the coach station is a lot busier around Christmas.
